We're spilling the beans on how online video is changing our definition of content quality - and why platforms like YouTube are at the heart of this change, in this year's “Why We Watch” report. 🧡 A labour of love by myself, Raffaella Stratta and Dunya van Troost. With the explosion of video, editing and AI tools, traditional markers of quality like technically strong visuals and sound, have now become the norm. So we're looking beyond this. Audiences are developing strong emotional connections with #creators and responses to content (whether it makes them laugh, cry, or feel seen and understood) -- and these new markers are helping us redefine what 'quality' means. Why do we care? Well, feelings of high engagement, or deep connection, are the holy grail for both creators and marketers, because it means consumers are at their most engaged and most receptive to ads. It’s also been hard to quantify — until now. Navigating the media industry again, after a couple of years of learning new things, I see the Business Agency model we are launching at Re:Motive as a necessary crusade against the industry's complacency. It's a bold move away from outdated norms of intermediation and volume, towards a dynamic, inclusive, integrated media era. This transition requires creativity, courage, and a commitment to innovation and community, challenging the status quo to unlock the full potential of media again. The technology and computing capabilities we now have -combined with the thinking and wisdom around big ideas that agencies built for decades before the "tiny KPI" metrics arrived - is a terrific set of powers to Make Different Happen for our clients once again. We're at a crucial juncture, and it's time to choose between stagnation or exploring untapped possibilities. Working these months with our amazing team on building Re:MOTIVE Media, supported by open innovation communities such as LA PIPA, (where silos have been replaced with trust) I must say that I am more determined than ever to keep trying our best to innovate in the industry, embracing complexity with creativity and collective intelligence.
