Natural ventilation is a method of cooling and ventilating buildings using passive means such as windows, doors, and vents to regulate airflow. Instead of relying on mechanical systems like air conditioners or fans, natural ventilation harnesses natural forces like wind and temperature differentials to circulate fresh air throughout the building. This approach not only reduces energy consumption and costs but also improves indoor air quality and occupant comfort. Natural ventilation strategies can vary depending on factors like building design, location, and climate conditions. ------- Read more: https://lnkd.in/gTuw_Nyx

The quality of air inside buildings is a crucial aspect of health and comfort, irrespective of a building's age. New constructions can sometimes have indoor air quality issues due to off-gassing from new materials and tight sealing for energy efficiency, which can trap pollutants inside. On the other hand, older buildings might struggle with issues like mold, dust, and outdated HVAC systems. It's a misconception that new buildings automatically have superior air quality or that older buildings are inherently problematic. Regardless of age, proactive measures, including regular maintenance of HVAC systems and the use of air purifiers, are essential in maintaining healthy indoor air in any building.

Wonder why heating feels different in newer apartments compared to older buildings? 🔍 New buildings: With superior insulation and advanced glazing, heat loss is minimised. This means lower energy bills and more efficient heating, that may feel cooler than you were previously used to. 🕰️ Older buildings: Modern heating systems in older buildings may take longer to warm up. To optimise efficiency, avoid frequent ON/OFF cycles and opt for setting room temperatures lower (setback) during inactive periods. We recently installed Cool Roof Coat on a commercial building that had a traditional dark-colored roof that absorbed a significant amount of heat. This led to increased cooling costs and discomfort for the occupants. After Cool Roof Coat installation, the building experienced a noticeable reduction in indoor temperatures, resulting in reduced cooling costs. The building also became more comfortable for the occupants since the air conditioning system wasn’t overstressed trying to keep up with cooling demand. The bottom line? The building owner reported a 20% reduction in cooling costs during the summer months, which translated into thousands of dollars in savings each year. Additionally, the cool roof coating extended the lifespan of the roof by protecting it from UV radiation and reducing thermal stress!
