After July's Hurricane Beryl (a brief CAT 1 storm) blacked out metro Houston for nearly a week, many Texas electric consumers hit the "never again" purchase button for new natural gas backup generators. This has added some localized reliable backup generation. And after the well-deserved whipping Centerpoint's executives took at several Public Utility Commission "Beryl: What Went Wrong?" hearings, Houston electric customers should expect that Centerpoint will actually deploy and energize the $800 million worth of leased natural gas back up generators that were not available this past July....right?
