Closing the women’s health gap is essential in the broader fight for gender equality. While women may live longer than men, they often spend more of those years in poor health, and that’s a clear sign something needs to change. The problem lies in the disparities in medical efficacy, data collection, and how care is delivered. We have to stop treating women’s health as just a smaller version of men’s health and recognise that it’s fundamentally different. Addressing this gap by focusing on specific diseases and conditions at a regional level could make a real impact, adding healthier years to women’s lives. #WomensHealth #HealthEquity #WomensHealthGap

🌍 This World Universal Health Coverage (#UHC) Day, the call for Health for All resonates deeply for Pakistan—a nation of over 250 million people, grappling with health budgets constrained to just 1.2% of GDP and ranked 145 out of 146 countries in gender parity. Let’s also recognize the pivotal role of women health workers. They are the backbone of health systems worldwide, delivering essential services, especially in underserved communities. Despite their immense contributions, they often face systemic barriers, inequities, and lack of recognition. 💡 To achieve UHC, we must prioritize their well-being, ensure equitable opportunities, and amplify their voices in decision-making. Investing in women health workers is an investment in healthier, more resilient communities. 🔗Read more about what our Co-Founder and Senior Advisor, Dr Shabnum Sarfraz pens down on the occasion of World #UHC Day: https://shorturl.at/XDHZl #UHC2030 #HealthForAll #EquityInHealth

It's staggering to see that just 2% of nonprofit global health board seats are held by women from low-income countries. This imbalance limits the progress and innovation needed to shape the future of #GlobalHealth. Every GH organization needs to re-assess their Board representation and be intentional on shifting the balance to include these women’s voices in decision-making processes.
