Honouring – not appropriating – Italian culture. What does it mean? 🤔 👇 At Italian Special Occasions DMC & Events, we’re committed to honouring Italian traditions without reducing them to mere activities. Our approach ensures: > Research: Understanding the history and stories behind cultural traditions. > Acknowledgement: Highlighting the importance of crafts like bobbin lace-making, a tradition passed down through generations. > Respectful engagement: Highlighting key contributors, such as Baroness Angelina Auteri, who transformed bobbin lace-making into an empowering craft for local women and men. > Deeper understanding: From historical context to authentic experiences, we ensure each encounter honours the craft’s cultural significance. By engaging with these traditions in a mindful way, we ensure that participants walk away with a deeper respect for the culture they’ve encountered. -- What cultural experience would you like to bring to life for your next event? #eventplanner #responsibletravel #sustainableevents

How Do We Stay Rooted When We’re Miles Away? This question sparked the creation of Dhaaga, founded by Farheen in 2022 with a heartfelt mission: to connect Desis across the U.S. through shared traditions, stories, and experiences. Dhaaga isn’t just a platform—it’s a community-driven space that keeps us close to the heart of our culture, no matter where we are. When you’re far from home, it’s the little things that keep you connected. Whether it’s the smell of your favorite home-cooked dish, the vibrant celebrations of cultural festivals, or simply the values passed down through generations, Dhaaga is here to help you cherish those moments. Our Purpose is simple: to empower Desis in America by bridging the gap between our heritage and our everyday lives. From discovering authentic Desi businesses to celebrating our shared cultural wins, Dhaaga is building a space where tradition meets today. But more than that, we’re on a mission to create something bigger than ourselves a thriving community of individuals who share a love for their roots and celebrate their identity every day. At Dhaaga, we believe that home is more than just a place it’s a feeling. And together, we can create a space that reflects the vibrant thread that ties our community together. We invite you to join us on this journey. Let’s build a community where every Desi feels at home no matter how far from it they may be. Ready to stay connected? Let’s keep our heritage alive, one thread at a time.

Today Catalonia celebrates #SantJordi, a celebration of culture and love, represented by books and roses. It is one of the most beautiful days as streets are packed with books and roses stalls. This #SantJordi I want to recommend Dr. Jay Golden’s book #DynamicSustainability-Implications for Policy, Markets, and National Security”. Not because he is my mentor and friend but because it is a must-read for anyone interested in #net-zero carbon transitions and the implications on society, policy, and markets

CULTURAL CLINICS - Led by Chris Baldwin The cultural clinic is a process-led methodology in which local #communities, #artists, cultural #institutions, #municipalities, and others work systematically to define, structure and articulate their own cultural #projects which can go on to form the basis of a large-scale (European or National) Capital of Culture or any other significant cultural initiative. A cultural clinic led by #ChrisBaldwin is predicated on listening – not imposing. Each cultural initiative (there may be dozens) is addressed individually before being woven into a pattern with others. https://lnkd.in/dZ6846nX

If ever I were to be asked by someone what the greatest thing in life I were to achieve, I would say, ''I would like to see a Gulf Hiri Hanenamo established known as Elema Morihova Festival.'' Tradition has it that, women and girls were forbidden to travel the high seas for the Hiri trade but historically our ancestral seafarers did not refuse or forbid our 10 x great-grandmothers to migrate to our shores to populate our Erema Elema land. This festival would honour those mothers and sisters who made it to our shores to give birth to us. Despite my Motu Koita bloodline, I would rather establish a Gulf Festival where we have our own Morihova Festival. Janetta Douglas an expatriate, fifty years ago, through her perseverance established the Hiri Hanenamo Quest. It has taken roots and is now the pride of many Motu Koitas. Hon Member of Parliament Mr. Powes Parkop is sad to see the absence of Gulf involvement in this special event. There is no Gulf involvement because this event was not established for them. Furthermore, it was not established on their home soil. It is a good thing that Gulf is not part of this historical event. What I can assure the HMP Mr. Parkop is that, Gulf can create its own aligned with the Hiri Hanenamo Quest. When the Elema people do, then the history of the trade will be complete. Right now, it will not be significant for the Elema people to push their way through to take centre stage. It will not seem right. It will when they have recreated their history to complement the Hiri Hanenamo Quest. I would take a bold stand if ever there was to be a committee established to recreate our very own festival called the Elema Morihova Festival. Let this be a challenge to all the offspring bloodline of the Hiri Trade. We can create this festival and make it one of Gulf's Tourist attractions in the province. Economic-wise, we need to draw in the dole and not squander elsewhere.

China’s 2024 Spring Festival customs are still going on. Here I would like to share an activity that is only available in my hometown (Conghua District, Guangzhou) – throwing colorful doors (hereinafter referred to as fireworks) The date is chosen from the sixth day of the Lunar New Year to the eighteenth day of the first lunar month. The villages where this event is held usually have a relatively large population. They make special fireworks and hang them about 10 meters high. A dozen young people throw them with small lit firecrackers. Fireworks are fired at the customized fireworks body until they burn, and the winner is called the lucky one, which means a cash reward of 500-1,000 yuan, and a huge firework is set off to express congratulations. Many people from other areas come to our hometown specifically to watch this event. With the gongs and drums roaring and the crowd cheering, the whole atmosphere was quite lively. In the era of globalized economy, industries are all similar, but cultural differences are the highlight of each region and one of the reasons why they attract outsiders. Especially the new generation of young people born in the technological era, they seek uniqueness For more information please contact Collab Exchange If you like this post, please share it with more people and explore interesting information together. #china —————————————————————————— I am: hanson lee-李则明 A man who once worked in a Sino-Japanese joint venture is now a shareholder of a travel company and the founder of a clothing brand.
