Turkey's sunflower harvest is expected to drop to 1.25 million tonnes this season, the lowest since 2015-2016, due to severe drought in Thrace, a major sunflower-producing region. The extreme dry conditions in northwestern Turkey have resulted in up to a 50% yield reduction in some areas, significantly impacting the national output. However, normal growth conditions in central regions may help stabilize the overall production. In response to the anticipated shortage, the US Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) has revised its sunflower import forecast for Turkey, increasing it by 100,000 tonnes to a total of 550,000 tonnes. This adjustment is meant to compensate for the reduced domestic supply and ensure Turkey meets its demand for sunflower products. Despite the challenges, central Turkey’s harvest is expected to remain close to historical averages, offering some relief amidst the broader production decline. www.capfixasia.com #RJ #SunflowerOil #Sunflower #CapfiX #CapFiXCommodityPlatform #Agricommodity #HealthcarePPE

🌡 Record temperatures have hit northwest and eastern China during the #corn planting season, now threatening production in the world's second-largest producer and consumer of the grain🌾 🚜 Farmers are delaying planting in the hope of better conditions. The seven provinces affected by the drought account for about 35% of China's corn production, though some areas are likely to avoid severe damage due to irrigation capabilities. 💧 📈🌍 Lower grain production will encourage increased purchases from exporters like Brazil, the United States, and Argentina, potentially supporting global prices. 📦 At SA Commodities, we are ready to help you seize this opportunity with our integrated and specialized logistics solutions. Southern Africa continues to face climate-related challenges that place its agricultural sector and food supply at risk. The midsummer drought of 2024 has devastated the regional maize supplies, a staple food crop for the region. So far, the focus has been on the losses farmers are experiencing, but soon, consumer pressures will arise.

Farmers in Brazil – significant oilseeds and grains producing country – have started planting their 2024/25 soybean crop. We will have to monitor the planting conditions and progress closely there, especially in light of the expected La Nina, which typically brings below-normal rainfall there (the opposite of Southern Africa, where we generally get above-normal rains during La Nina).
