Piven Theatre Workshop instructors, Rebecca McNamara and Mikalina Rabinsky, had a wonderful experience creating and leading a corporate workshop with the members of The Network, to kick off their day-long retreat in late January.
One participant had this to say:
“I am not a performer by nature, and the very thought of participating in "improv" in front of my coworkers filled me with horror. But to my great surprise, the session with Piven Theatre was nothing like I thought improv was, and it was much more fun than I could have imagined. The teachers made each exercise challenging but created a playful environment where we all felt comfortable and supported. I am very grateful to have had this opportunity, and what I will remember most is how much we all truly enjoyed interacting with each other and as a group in such a creative and carefree way.”
The Network is a group of 40+ member organizations dedicated to improving the lives of those impacted by gender-based violence through education, public policy and advocacy, and connecting community members with direct service providers. They lead collaborative work to imagine and realize radical ways to respond to and end gender-based violence, focusing on the intersections between systemic violence and gender-based violence.
