On Thursdays, we talk about biomass! Today, we are focusing on 🟫 WOOD WASTE 🟫 Woodworking waste is a sustainable and versatile fuel for biomass systems, offering a viable alternative to fossil fuels. Chips, sawdust, and bark residues are energy-rich and ensure efficient, long-lasting combustion, making them ideal for powering industrial systems. Using this waste reduces the environmental impact of disposal and promotes a circular economy, turning residues into a valuable renewable energy resource. This choice helps lower CO₂ emissions and makes industrial processes more sustainable and cost-effective. 📍 We have plants that work with wood waste. Are you maximising the potential of your dust extraction waste? According to annual statistics published by the Wood Recyclers’ Association (WRA), 2022 saw a record amount of waste wood processed in the UK. The total amount of waste going to small-scale biomass increased from 80,000 tonnes to 90,000 tonnes year-on-year. This highlights that a sustainable approach to waste management is high on the agenda, but what are the benefits of processing your sawdust waste? Installing an AL-KO Briquette Presse means you can repurpose sawdust waste to create a renewable energy source for your workshop or home. Briquettes have a higher calorific content than logs, so you can significantly reduce the cost of heating and waste management by processing your waste and using it to fuel an independent heating system. Interested in maximising the potential of your dust extraction waste and improving your #sustainability? Get in touch and find out more. #DustExtraction #TMMachinery #Woodworking

Focus on my husbands hybrid Anaerobic digestion and composting site, producing biofertiliser and renewable energy
This week 'on the road', we take a look at another of our Scottish sites, Earnside Energy in Glenfarg, Perth. 📍 Originally a composting facility, Built in 2011, Earnside Energy offers both anaerobic digestion and in-vessel composting, the site produces both a quality biofertiliser and compost in addition to renewable energy. This dual service means the plant has the ability to treat co-mingled garden and food waste. The site has the capacity to generate: 2.36 MWe of electricity, 45,000 tonnes of biofertiliser and 34,000 tonnes of compost 🌱 Watch the video to find out more! #compost #composting #circulareconomy #localenergy #renewableenergy #scotland #cleantech #greeneconomy #biocapital #anaerobicdigestion #biofertiliser #earnside #glenfarg
