VHM Limited welcomes the introduction of the Government’s Critical Minerals Production Tax Incentive which marks a significant step forward in Australia's efforts to bolster its sovereign capability in critical minerals processing. By complementing existing Government incentives such as grants, loans, and research and development support, this production tax credit encourages developers in the sector to capitalise on processing raw materials domestically, which will ultimately deliver a significant return on investment for Australians. The commitment released in the 2024/25 Federal Budget includes $7 billion over 10 years, for the 31 critical minerals on the Australian critical minerals list. JEAN-MARIE KANDA URGES DRC TO PRIORITIZE SOVEREIGNTY FOR HARNESSING STRATEGIC MINERALS European countries and others have set ambitious targets to transition to electric mobility by 2035, with electric batteries being a cornerstone of this endeavour, consisting of lithium and other vital minerals found in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). However, the DRC faces challenges in fully leveraging its strategic mineral wealth, as foreign mining companies currently hold significant control over these resources. At an energy conference held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, experts emphasized the need for the DRC to assert its sovereignty and swiftly adapt to capitalize on its…READ MORE HERE https://lnkd.in/gR5h2_Yp

$1.6 billion of strategic metals, critical to Europe's technology transition, lie in the ground at our Finland project. Specifically, that's within our "R1" 28.1 million tonne mineral resource. We expect to announce another mineral resource, this time for "P5" (modelled below), this month. Previous estimates suggest we have between 16 and 24 million tonnes at similar grades to R1, i.e. potentially another billion dollar asset! Let us bring you these developments as they unfold over the coming weeks by following us here. #EnergyTransition #EUGreenDeal #Investing #impactinvesting

🌏 This is Good News: EU and Australia Forge Critical Minerals Partnership 🌏 Today, the European Union & Australia signed an MoU to establish a strategic partnership focused on critical and strategic minerals. There are MANY critical minerals MoUs being announced at the moment, focusing on advancing towards net-zero economies by 2050. What I appreciate about this MoU is the focus on ethical supply chains and responsible mining. However, I believe there is still an opportunity to address a key issue that is critical for securing assets and benefits for all. 🔍 Responsible Mining Focus: Transparency: Strengthening supply chain transparency and promoting high ESG standards are central to this partnership. Governance: Aligning international mineral pricing with ESG standards ensures fair and competitive markets. Community Impact: Despite the promising objectives, there's a notable lack of focus on the impacted communities, particularly Indigenous peoples. Effective governance should include their voices to avoid exacerbating inequalities. 🤝 🎉 As an Aussie in Europe, the MoU is excellent news. We have a lot of strengths to share with each other. #ResponsibleMining #CriticalMinerals #ESG #CommunityEngagement #Mining #Australia #EuropeanUnion https://lnkd.in/g74j8jxH

I really enjoyed attending the **Paydirt Battery Minerals Conference 2024** over the last couple of days. It was great to hear from miners, government leaders and market intelligence firms **all in one conference**. International collaboration is the **linchpin** in securing a sustainable future. To accelerate the transition to clean technologies for the betterment of our planet, responsible sourcing of critical minerals and addressing current supply chain challenges are essential. With the surging global demand for **critical minerals**, Australia🇦🇺 , with **Western Australia** at the forefront, is ideally positioned to be a major player in this space. It was an enriching experience to connect with representatives from the US, UK, South America (Argentina, Chile and Peru), and Geoscience Australia, fostering a truly international perspective. My Key Takeaways: - Australia's Commitment to **sustainability 🌱**: The Australian government's motto, "Future Made in Australia," resonated throughout the event, coupled with a strong focus on reconstruction funds dedicated to sustainable solutions. This signifies a national commitment to a cleaner future. - Industry leaders like Linda Zhang (CRU) highlighted supply chain challenges, including reduced margins, competition, and regulatory uncertainties. Capital raising was another hurdle, as highlighted by Warren Pearce (AMEC). The IRA emerged as a promising strategy to attract raw materials suppliers away from China and into the US. - Building the **infrastructure for a sustainable future** : The discussions extended beyond the realm of mining itself. It was interesting to hear about how bankers have a strong interest in investing in infrastructure projects like roads and power supply. - While investiment in infrastructure is strong, we kept hearing that **technology risks** remain a hurdle, as proven processes are preferred. This is disappointing as the critical minerals processing should embrace risk-managed innovation. - Miners across various commodities like Lithium, Graphite, and Rare Earth Elements showcased the industry's diversity. Panel discussions on downstream processing, the **green premium for commodities**, and potential collaboration in continents like Latin America further emphasized the importance of a global approach. Well done Paydirt Media Pty Ltd for organising a great platform for industry leaders and representatives from across the globe to convene and discuss the critical role international collaboration plays in securing a sustainable future. I will definitely 🖐️ attend next year’s conference! #paydirt #mining #ESG #Sustainability #Energy #Renewables #criticalminerals #westernaustralia
