Hi Colleagues! I'm hosting an event on July 25th from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and wonder if you or someone you know might like to come? Details below: In our roles in the people and culture space we need data to make decisions. Some is readily available through HR and other systems. Often what we need to know resides in the heads and hearts of employees. To collect it we procure or build surveys, conduct interviews and focus groups. These are powerful tools that are also relatively economical and efficient. But too often poorly designed or unsuitable instruments and methods lead us to misleading and/or irrelevant insights that are used to support unfortunate decisions that impact our organizations and people. Because so much of our work in Organization Development, Learning & Development, Human Resources, Leadership depends on data from these sources, and many practitioners haven’t had any training in research methods, I have developed a workshop to introduce people in this space to the fundamentals of surveys and other employee listening methods. I’m offering it as a complementary session on Thursday, July 25th from 9:00 am to 12:30. Are you a practitioner or leader working in these areas who would like to improve your ability to design and build, adapt, or evaluate and select the right instrument for your organization? If so, we’d love to see you! During this fun and highly interactive in-person session you will become much more savvy about how to use social science research methods to help you develop, adapt, or select the right survey for you, as well as ideas on how to apply these principles to your practice. You’ll learn to develop concepts into concrete, measurable ‘constructs’, write clear and relevant questions that measure what’s needed, foster the cooperation of those that count, all while considering how factors like power and politics should be incorporated into your project and product, and much more. I’m really looking forward to seeing you there! Please confirm your attendance by contacting me at tyler.w@archetype-od.ca at your earliest convenience to secure your spot. P.S. As Archetype is still relatively new, can you help spread the word? If you know someone who might be interested, please let them know to get in touch! I would very much appreciate it. Also, our venue has limited space, so we are currently able to accommodate only one person (possibly two depending on enrollment) per organization. Thank you, Tyler

Hi All! There are still a few spots available for anyone who would like to explore this topic with us. Someone yesterday asked "will there be a sales pitch?". This is not a sales presentation. I created this session after completing three graduate-level courses on social science research methods, including survey research. This topic was of interest to me after many years of hearing people talk off the record about what they really thought (which wasn't shared via survey), and through seeing many surveys get ignored by important (potential) stakeholders, and/or used to 'inform' questionable decisions and actions (e.g., making selection decisions based information from poorly-designed homemade tools). In this workshop I wanted to introduce practitioners/buyers to as much of what I've learned as possible in 3.5 hours. Many in the HR/L&D/OD/Coaching space don't have this kind of training/knowledge so aren't always making informed decisions about what and how to measure fuzzy concepts that these tools are meant to get at. 'You never want to get too good at something you don't love.' I love this part of the quote that Tracy Wilk shared below so much! If only I'd known that back in the day and if only our 'Pathway to Purpose' program existed back then!:)). Here's more: according to a survey conducted by McKinsey, 40% of people in North America are currently unhappy at work and are considering leaving their jobs in the near future. The main reasons cited for job dissatisfaction include lack of career development, inadequate pay, and uncaring bosses While we can't solve for the inadequate pay (directly), we might be able to help you flip the script on your career development and even on dealing with 'uncaring bosses'. We want to help you bring the Fizz & Buzz back in your career - which we know will bring a spark in your personal life, too! So please join us: 17 April - 22 May - 6 Zoom sessions - Wednesdays @ 3-4 pm ET. - limited to 20 participants for a personalized experience. - 80%+ attendance strongly encouraged. More details and registrations here: https://lnkd.in/gPsDrxqn Happy and excited that we get to run this now! Can't wait to have you there! 🤓 #allpersonal #purpose #groupcoaching #careerdevelopment
A former colleague shared the following with me: “My career wasn't particularly managed by me...My managers thought I could do a bunch of different things. So I moved around and worked on whatever they needed me to do...I was never really totally happy. ...You never want to get too good at something you don't love.” If this sounds a bit familiar, please consider joining executive coach Roxana Radulescu and I for just one hour a week for our upcoming "Pathways to Purpose" program. It will run via Zoom from 12-1 PT/3-4 ET for just 6 weeks, starting on April 17th. We plan to pack a lot into that short time. The program is designed for early and mid-career professionals who are looking for a bit more direction and satisfaction in their careers. The group will be limited to no more than 20 people to allow for more engagement. Each session will include a brief lecture and group discussion and exercises. Often, we'll introduce various assessments and other tools to build your self-awareness around your values, skills, likes and dislikes and around potential career directions. We'll also discuss articles or videos that we shared that help highlight some of the concepts from the program. We are very confident it will be a good use of your time. Please join us! Key details: Program details: - Dates: Weds, April 17th thru Weds May 22nd - Time: 12-1 PT/3-4 ET - Cost: $495 - Format: Zoom! - Attendees capped at 20 Please join us! Thrilled to share that I have successfully completed the “Corporate Etiquette” course from 10 Minute School This experience has enriched my understanding of professional behavior and how to navigate corporate environments with confidence. One of the most valuable takeaways I’ve learned in my journey is to be selective with what we add to our CVs. Instead of filling up space with hobbies or unnecessary details, we can highlight relevant certifications and achievements that truly set us apart and capture the attention of potential employers. #CorporateEtiquette #ProfessionalDevelopment #LifelongLearning #CareerGrowth
