Congratulations to Jarred Taylor, who graduated from the College of Applied Science & Technology in May! "I chose Arizona Online to receive a great education while managing the demands of my active duty Air Force career. Despite my program being online, I never felt disconnected, and the professors were always engaged. Since graduating and becoming a DevOps Engineer, I use many skills I learned in their courses daily.”

🚀 Week 1 Update: My 6-Week "Make Myself More Employable" Plan (still brainstorming a catchier name!) ✅ What I accomplished this week: 1. Built an EKS Cluster with 2 worker nodes and integrated a CI/CD pipeline using CodeBuild. Now, every GitHub push triggers a Docker image build and deployment to ECR—completely automated! 💪 2. Configured my Route53 domain to point to the LoadBalancer and successfully served a static app. 🖥️🎉 3. Completed 40% of Stephane Maarek's excellent AWS DevOps Engineer Professional course on Udemy, focusing on SDLC automation, configuration management, and IaC (mainly CloudFormation). Baby steps... 📅 Goals for Week 2: 1. Set up logging and monitoring on my cluster using Helm charts (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana) and try to load test the site, just to see what happens to the graphs. 2. Purchase and start practice simulators on killer.sh for the CKA exam (hoping for those Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals! 🤞). 3. Complete 70% of AWS DevOps Engineer Professional course, learning about resilient cloud solutions (Lambda, API Gateway, Kinesis, ASGs) ⚠️ Challenge ahead: Traveling back to the UK this week (overnight transatlantic flight), so jetlag might slow me down for a couple of days. 🛫 💼🔥 Excited to tackle Week 2 and keep the momentum going!
