🌧️ Today’s Rainfall at Meteorological Sub-Divisional Level: At a Glance 🌦️ .......................................................................................................... As we observe today's rainfall patterns across various meteorological sub-divisions, it’s fascinating to see nature's dynamic interplay unfold. From light to moderate rainfall marked in soothing greens which highlights regional variation of rainfall. How this matter? 1️⃣ Agricultural Planning: Farmers rely on rainfall data for timely sowing, irrigation and crop health management. Sub-divisional data ensures precision in resource allocation and advisory services. 2️⃣ Water Resource Management: Tracking daily rainfall helps authorities gauge water availability for reservoirs, drinking water and hydroelectric projects. 3️⃣ Disaster Preparedness: Identifying areas receiving heavy rainfall enables authorities to issue timely flood warnings and minimize damage. 4️⃣ Climate Analysis: Rainfall at the sub-divisional level forms a building block for long-term climate studies, aiding in understanding patterns and shifts in precipitation trends. The insights we gather today are not just numbers—they're a foundation for proactive decision-making and sustainable development. Let's harness this information to build resilience and empower communities. #RainfallData #WeatherInsights #SustainableDevelopment #ClimateAction #Linkedin #Connections #World 🌍 #Algorithm #Developers #Geospatial #Technology #Hydrology #Irrigation #Environment #Monitoring #Ecosystem

To mark World Environment Day 2024 celebrated today, Priyanka Rajkakati, Head of special projects, represented vorteX-io at a webinar organized by APFM and #IDMP (Integrated Drought Management Programme). Its aim? Gather knowledge and capitalize on existing experiences to strengthen community-based drought and flood risk management in the future. 🔎 Focus on drought 🔍 This natural phenomenon, which affects many regions of the world, is seeing its effects greatly amplified by climate change. This year, World Environment Day focuses on land restoration as a way of strengthening resistance to drought. It is by restoring degraded soils that we can improve their ability to retain water, reduce erosion and increase crop productivity. At the same time, it is vital to implement a range of measures to promote this resistance, such as: ✅ sustainable land management ✅ reforestation ✅ development of drought-resistant crops ✅ efficient, water-saving irrigation systems And let's not forget that, contrary to what logic might lead us to believe, periods of severe drought can contribute considerably to sudden and often devastating floods. 💡 Understanding the existing links between these two extreme hydrological phenomena is proving decisive in enabling preventive measures to be taken to minimize the risks and potential impacts. To face up to these major challenges and preserve a more resilient future, strong international cooperation is absolutely essential. By sharing knowledge, best practices, hydrological data and resources, we can effectively prevent and manage alternating floods and droughts, which know no borders 🗺️ #GenerationRestoration #WorldEnvironmentDay #hydrology #floods #droughts

Today's topic: Rainfall .................................................................................................... Rainfall at sub-divisional level plays a vital role in regional climate monitoring, enabling precise tracking of rainfall patterns across different geographic areas. This localized information is essential for agricultural planning, helping farmers optimize crop cycles and irrigation strategies. It also supports accurate drought prediction, flood risk assessment and water resource management, ensuring better preparedness and response to extreme weather events. Additionally, this information is instrumental in guiding government policies and disaster management efforts, particularly in regions prone to monsoon variability or weather-related challenges. ................................................................................................ #rainfall #india #algorithm #developers #geospatial #world #news #transportation #farmers #agriculture #hydrology #impact #monsoon #mitigation #disaster #management #delhi #linkedin #environment #monitoring

Groundwater droughts are often not taken as seriously as meteorological droughts or agricultural droughts. One of the profound and far-reaching impacts of a groundwater drought is on the perenniality of a river, as groundwater feeds the rivers in their lean periods, sustaining their perennial environment. In this paper, led by Thallam Prashanth, we apply a novel framework using some newly proposed indices (PSAII, PRPI & SGWTI) to quantify the impact of groundwater drought on a river and other surface water bodies. The application of the framework to the Indian River Godavari shows that the river (or at least a major part of it) is becoming non-perennial and is being impacted by the groundwater drought in the basin. #hydrology #groundwater #drought #perennialrivers
