The Beaver Watershed Alliance (BWA) is collaborating with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) and the USDA-Forest Service Ozark-St. Francis National Forests, and local landowners- Jamille Shawn, Don House, and Sabine Schmidt, to replace a low-water stream crossing on the Middle Fork of the White River with a span bridge. BWA and AGFC have worked in unison to install the new bridge this past week. The next steps will be removing the old crossing that is currently altering stream hydrology, causing stream erosion, and impeding fish passage. This project will repair the primary barrier on the Middle Fork, restoring connectivity to 507 miles of stream.
