We are pleased to be sponsoring the 2024 Neuromuscular Study Group (NMSG) Annual Scientific Meeting, taking place from 20-22 September in Tarrytown, NY. Martin Brandhøj Skov, Innovation Manager, will present ‘CIC-1 inhibition improves skeletal muscle function in rat models and patients with myasthenia gravis,’ from 17:30-19:30 EDT during the Abstract Poster Session on 20 September, detailing clinical and preclinical work investigating the therapeutic potential of NMD670, our selective skeletal muscle targeted CIC-1 ion channel inhibitor. The data demonstrate the ability of CIC-1 inhibition to enhance #neuromuscular transmission and improve muscle function in both animal models of myasthenia gravis (#MG) and in patients, as well as the potential of this novel therapeutic modality to address similar symptoms in other diseases with compromised neuromuscular transmission, including spinal muscular atrophy (#SMA) and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (#CMT). Members of the NMD Pharma team, Dan Brennan, SVP, Corporate and Commercial Strategy, and JITENDRA GUPTE, VP, Clinical Operations, will also attend the meeting. If you are interested in learning more about our novel muscle-targeted approach for the treatment of neuromuscular disorders, please reach out to contact@nmdpharma.com to set up a meeting. The peripheral blood film #PBF It is a laboratory work-up that involves cytology of peripheral blood cells smeared on a slide. As basic as it is, PBF is invaluable in the characterization of various clinical diseases. This article highlights the basic science and art behind the PBF. It expounds its laboratory applications, clinical indications and interpretations in the light of various clinical diseases. Despite advances in haematology automation and application of molecular techniques, the PBF has remained a very important diagnostic test to the haematologist. A good quality smear, thorough examination and proper interpretation in line with the patient's clinical state should be ensured by the haemato-pathologist. Clinicians should be abreast with its clinical utility and proper application of the reports in the management of patients. The smear should cover two-thirds of the base slide length and should have an oval feathered end. As a rule, the faster and steeper the smear, the thicker it is.9 For instance, steeper and faster smear may be adapted for anaemic samples. The smear is properly air dried. #Peripheralbloodsmear #Preparation #Examination #Interpretation #Reporting, #Bloodcellsmorphology

I had the incredible opportunity to attend a high-level scientific session on "Progression in MS" led by globally renowned experts. It was fascinating to hear the latest research on the pathological mechanisms behind MS progression, gene expression, and the critical role of neuronal density in disease severity. Each speaker provided valuable insights, from neurodegeneration triggered by tumour necrosis factor receptor 1 to targeting myeloid infiltrates for neuroprotection in progressive MS. The discussions were highly technical but profoundly enriching, offering a deeper understanding of the complexity of MS progression. Considering that all of the information is next level. #MSProgression #MultipleSclerosisResearch #Neurodegeneration #MSExperts #MSScience #MSPathology #Neuroprotection #EpigeneticsInMS https://lnkd.in/d65mHk38 Scientific Session 17: Progression in MS Chairs:Nicola De Stefano (IT), Bente Finsen (DK) 08:30 - 08:35 Introduction by the chairs 08:35 - 08:50 Pathological mechanisms of progression Tanja Kuhlmann (DE) 08:50 - 09:05 Gene expression and epigenetics of progression Zsolt Laszlo Illes (DK) 09:05 - 09:12 Neuronal density, not lesion area or activity, is the strongest pathological correlate of multiple sclerosis severity. Heart Day, Heart Health! ❤️ Today, on World Heart Day, let's pledge to prioritize our heart health. Cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of death globally. By making small changes to our lifestyle, we can significantly reduce our risk. From 2024 to 2026, World Heart Day campaign will centre around the theme "Use Heart for Action," urging individuals to prioritize their heart health while encouraging them to demand that leaders take cardiovascular health seriously. The term "Action" reflects a dual approach that aims to influence policies and promote behavioural changes and physical activity, underscoring the necessity for sustained efforts and collaboration.

A part of this paper involves the symmetric conformal parameterization of the extracted liver surface onto a genus-0 domain. Provided with a few landmarks specified on two livers, we demonstrated that, by using a modified Beltrami differential, not only could they be non-rigidly registered, but also the hepatectomy on one liver could be envisioned on another. https://lnkd.in/gvJ4HZR5
