Travel and Transport is often referred to as the elephant in the room when it comes to environmental impacts in sport. Good to see UEFA, Michele Uva looking at this. It is decisions made at this level in terms of scheduling that will help meaningful reduction actions to be taken. "The match schedule has been designed for teams to play their group stage matches only across two regional clusters in order to reduce travel distances for teams and fans between the host cities. This favours team delegations travelling by train – offered through a partnership with Deutsche Bahn – or bus from their base camps to the match venues during the group stage, leaving a much smaller carbon footprint than at previous tournaments." https://lnkd.in/eaD3PSmB

Irish Rugby.. Watching the Glasgow Warriors last night and this article it raised some questions and the need for some home truths- “Irish rugby has everything in place to be the most aligned rugby system in the world, yet there are clear signs that it’s been sorely lacking over the past four-year cycle and a lack of depth in key positions was obvious in Paris last October“ There are then questions around the IRFU’s crude commercialisation of the game alienating long standing supporters. Over hyping. Terrible athmosphere. It’s attitude to a range of issues from alcohol, concussion, gender and human rights. Does Irish rugby really challenge under performance on and off the field which should come with its new found commercialisation or is it still an old boys club albeit one the Irish tax payer subsidies? It’s true there’s excessive demand on tired players and poorer rugby but the golden period we have enjoyed in recent years may not last without the type of serious self reflection which preceded the professional era and which the IRFU is to be applauded for. Rugby is about more than money. Glasgow’s victory, a team with far less investment and hype than Leinster, really brought this out.
Bernard Jackman: Ireland’s lack of depth in key positions could spell the end of golden era

Road To LEGACY
The excitement is rising as we gear up for tomorrow’s Aalborg BK match in the 3F Superliga! The international break has given us the chance to reflect on the first half of the season and critically assess our progress, especially in terms of player development! Aalborg BK has a clear strategy focused on bringing young talents from North Jutland and Aalborg into Portland Park to not only join the professional squad but to make a real impact. These players aren’t just there to fill the squad — they are expected to become key contributors and play a pivotal role in the team’s success. Giving them valuable minutes on the pitch and integrating them as essential parts of the first team is a core part of the club’s philosophy. We are proud that the hard work of our staff at Hornevej is already paying off this season, and we’re starting to see the first successes on this path! Watch the video to hear what James Gow and Julius Nagel have to say about this approach. But what excites us the most is hearing young players like Oliver Ross and Mads Bomholt share their experiences, paving the way for future talents from our academy. We’re especially proud of their words, because ultimately, everything we do at the club is for them and our fans!
