MIRROR IMAGE Have a look at these two HAX250’s. They were ordered by a renowned producer of high quality alumina and alumina-based products. For their high pressure production process they requested a rotary valve to discharge and dose cement. They needed a customised solution to ensure a smooth product flow, regardless of the high system pressure. Our solution was to build a tandem consisting of two HAX250 valves, with the lower one mounted mirror-inverted. By using a combined chain drive with some smart features, the bottom valve makes sure that the top valve can release the product at any time without blocking. We first supplied this mirror image rotary valve tandem in 2004. Since then we have had a number of unchanged repeat orders, which proves that our customer is very satisfied with our solution to solve his problem. This customer needed a square inlet and outlet, but a combination with an HAR valve with two round flanges is also possible. Do you need a customised solution? Something out of the ordinary? Many industrial applications see the switch from 304 to 316 stainless steel. This is typically to take advantage of the improved corrosion resistance that 316 offers. Still, 316 may not offer enough corrosion resistance in some corrosive or high temperature environments. A liquid metal alloy containing gallium, indium, and tin has been proposed as an additive to Portland cement (Allakhverdiev et al., 1993). A formulation is shown in Table 18.16. Theliquid metal alloy has a melting point of11◦C. Its presence does not cause corrosion of stainless steel up to 250◦C, but causes corrosion of steel alloys at temperature above 35◦C. It dissolves aluminum at room temperature. The alloy is harmless to skin and to mucous membranes. Isobutanol is used as an alcoholcomponent to increase strength ofproduced cement stone. Petrochemical industry has been using cast steel of the 25% Cr – 20% Ni type (HK type steel) since the early 1960s in lieu of superalloy that has creep resistant properties. Over the time, the base composition has also been adjusted with Ni up to 35% to produce (HP type steel). The creep resistance is depending on the chemical composition and distribution of the phases during casting and these phases transform during in-service. The primary phase eutectic carbide with secondary precipitation of chrome (Cr-C) is normal phases for classic HK/HP alloy. During aging between 700-1000C, modified alloy HP-NbTi with addition of Nb & Ti lead to partial transformation of NbTi-C to Nickel-Niobium Silicide (Ni16Nb7Si6) known as G-phase was observed. While, modified HP-Nb alloy allows full transformation of Nb-C to G-phase during aging. This is due to Ti inhibits transformation NbTi-C to G-phase in HP-NbTi steel, allows only partial transformation. The interface of G-phase and matrix is a preferential site for the creep damage occurrence. By adding Ti, a finer and even distribution of secondary precipitation may be the best reason for the superior creep resistance properties of HP-NbTi compared to classic HK/HP Steel or even HP-Nb steel. G-phase was known back in year 1992, but to me, I just learned it last week in the laboratory. Unfortunately, you can't observe these phases transformation onsite!

What can Beryllium copper do ❓ Beryllium copper is also used in the manufacture of various moulds. Beryllium copper is an alloy with good mechanical, physical and chemical properties. After quenching and tempering, it has high strength, elasticity, abrasion resistance, fatigue resistance and heat resistance, thermal conductivity, cold resistance and non-magnetic, non-sparking on impact, easy to weld and braze, corrosion resistance in the atmosphere, fresh water and sea water is excellent. The corrosion resistance of beryllium-copper alloy in seawater was (1.1-1.4) × 10-2mm/year. Corrosion depth: (10.9-13.8) × 10-3mm/year. After corrosion, the strength and elongation have no change, so it can be maintained in seawater for more than 40 years. It is an irreplaceable material for submarine cable repeater structure. In sulfuric acid medium: the corrosion depth is 0.0012-0.1175 mm in sulfuric acid of less than 80% concentration (room temperature) , and the corrosion speed is slightly faster in sulfuric acid of more than 80% concentration
