"This observance means a lot to me as it highlights our heritage and spreading insight into our culture. The one thing I hold dear to my heritage is spiritual hikes and the camaraderie within our families. It reminds me to remain focus/grounded to our roots and spirit." -SFC Lazalde III , CA National Guard #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth

South Carolina played a crucial role in the American Revolutionary War, both strategically and in terms of battles fought on its soil 🇺🇸 The Battle of Sullivan's Island (1776) was an early victory for American forces where they successfully defended Fort Moultrie against a British naval assault. South Carolina's resistance and resilience were significant in the overall Southern strategy that eventually led to British General Cornwallis's surrender at Yorktown in 1781. The state's involvement exemplifies the diverse and widespread nature of the Revolutionary War. 📸: @amyquinnhill . . . #coldwellbanker #coldwellbankerrealty #charlestonrealestate #charlestonhomes #charlestonsc #charleston #homeowner #homesweethome #realestateexpert #buying #selling #danielisland #iop #isleofpalms #sullivansisland #mtpleasant #explorecharleston #realtor #luxuryhomes #househunting #realestatelife #dreamhome #home #chsrealtor #luxuryrealestate #lowcountryliving #hipandhistoric #michellesellschs

The case against optimism.... I am, by nature, an optimist. In fact, my loved ones have given me the nick-name "positive Patrick". However, I think over indexing on positivity without keeping a grip on reality, can be harmful in difficult situations. Let me explain. I recently listened to the audiobook Good to Great by Jim Collins. He references the Stockdale Paradox, named for James Bond "Jim" Stockdale. Stockdale was United States Navy vice admiral and aviator who was awarded the Medal of Honor in the Vietnam War. Stockdale was the most senior naval officer held captive for seven years in the infamous "Hotel Hanoi" in Hanoi, North Vietnam. Stockdale was known for his ability to face the facts (himself and others facing horrible conditions as prisoners of war) while focusing on the future (creating codes for prisoners to communicate with one another, secret messages in letters to love ones, and frameworks for dealing with the inevitable physical, emotional, and psychological torture). In contrast, the prisoners who failed to face the facts, and were always optimistic (we will be out by Christmas...by Easter...by Summer....by Thanksgiving....by Christmas again...) felt dejected and hopeless when their optimistic timelines came and went. Although I doubt, I will ever face conditions as dire as Stockdale and any other prisoners of war, I know the challenges of life and work are inevitable. I hope to face the challenges through the framework of the Stockdale Paradox - a technique for navigating difficult times by maintaining a firm grip on the negative reality, while simultaneously making plans for a better future. #middlemanagementmastermind #stockdaleparadox #optimism #reality #overcomingchallenges

My country celebrates its 248th year of Independence today 🇺🇸 While we Americans stand on the shoulders of giants and enjoy the freedoms associated with the Constitution of the United States they drafted... Neither of us were there, risking our lives by committing treason (in the eyes of the other). So, I routinely ask myself if I am living up to the charge of Citizenship. Or, am I simply basking in the fruits of someone else's glory because I happened to be born on U.S. soil? What have I done to earn my keep, my 'freedom'?.. ...Seemingly taken for granted by so many. It reminds me of the book "Starship Troopers" by Robert A. Heinlein. I would never have picked it up if it hadn't been on the Chief of Naval Operations' (First Sea Lord equivalent) reading list. Yep - because a film by the same name ruined the concept, which (ironically) immediately got me interested. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend a read for its overall message on #Citizenship, what it's worth and why we should never take it (and all benefits associated) for granted. I see this as a universal idea, not meant solely for an American audience. If not this book, at least have a think about what Citizenship means to you and the lengths you would go to in order to gain it... maintain it... forever. Something to ponder…🤔 Considering for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025, VA's budget for homeless programs is approximately $3.2 billion. That is a significant amount of money dedicated to reducing, and ultimately ending, Veteran homelessness. Is it though? Compared to the the Federal Government reported in 2024 their “only” picking up a portion of the bill and spent around $66 billion. However, the states have spent around $115 billion. It’s important to note, that illegal immigrants have contributed about $31 billion through taxes, whereas the total fiscal burden on American taxpayers is about $150 billion annually. How much have #Veterans contributed to American taxpayers?

How to become a Noble When my old boss and great friend an Army CW5 was retiring from the military after 40 years I bought a 12” x 12” plot of land making him a Lord. He now refers to himself as Lord K. I own the lot next to him and we joke about vacations on our little slice of land. If you have held a title like sergeant, police officer, special agent, major or another rank throughout your career and desire to continue the tradition of bearing an esteemed title, perhaps it is time to consider becoming a Lord or Lady or maybe even a Baron or Baroness. Embracing a title of nobility cannot only add a touch of distinction to your identity but also open doors to new opportunities and social circles. Honestly, it’s not likely so don’t hold your breath. These titles carry with them a sense of nobility and honor, reflecting a long-standing tradition of respect and admiration. It’s also fun to give as a gift to your retiring friends. Transitioning to such a prestigious title can be a fulfilling experience, symbolizing a new chapter in your personal and professional journey. Are you ready for nobility? Can you handle the epic responsibilities? Becoming a Lord or Lady is as easy as an internet search, and handing over a few dollars. #leadership #experience #socialcircles #police #lawenforcement #executiveprotection #firefighter #military

I often get asked what I am going when standing like this. This stance is known as a “Parade Rest” for Marines. It is a sign of respect and often used when speaking to higher ranking officers or when at an event, or it is a sign that we are ready to execute an order. Which it was for me, I was preparing to get called to speak to a large group of teenagers and parents/families.🎤 Would you like to learn more about Marine processes?
