" 11 essential Safety Precautions for safe use of #StraightLadders at construction sites ". 11 - Do not sit or Handle near live overheads 10 - Ideally the ladders should be secured at the top 09 - Top of ladder must be rest against solid support 08 - Only one person should climb on the ladder at any one time 07 - Angle of the ladder should ideally be 75° or at the ratio of 4:1 06 - Site ladders on a solid ,flat base so that feet don't sink into the ground 05 - Top of the ladder should be far from the platform, safe & secure 04 - Ladders should be footed by someone standing on the bottom rung 03 - Wooden Ladders should not be painted as this can hide defects 02 - Nothing should be carried in the hands while ascending & descending. 01 - Don’t move or shift a ladder while a person /equipment is on the ladder P.S. What are some common hazards you come across when using Ladders?
📌point 05 ki wazahat😀 ladders must extend at least 3 feet above the point of support.
📌 Always maintain 3 points of contact & face ladder when ascending or descending 👍✊
📌 What is the 4 to 1 rule when using a Ladder?
5-3-5 Rule for Ladder Safety 5 Checks Before Using the Ladder: Inspect for Damage: Ensure the ladder is free from cracks Check Stability: Verify that all four feet are on a level, stable surface that the ladder does not wobble. Test Locking Mechanisms: Make sure all locking mechanisms, such as hinges and spreaders, are fully engaged functioning properly. Cleanliness: Remove any dirt, oil, or other substances from the ladder that could cause slips or falls. Positioning: Place the ladder at the correct angle (4:1 ratio) and ensure it is properly positioned 3 Points of Contact: Always maintain three points of contact (two hands and one foot 5 Rules for Safe Use on the Ladder: Face the Ladder: Always face the ladder while climbing up or down to maintain balance and control. Keep Centered: Keep your body centered between the ladder rails to prevent losing balance. Don't Overreach: Avoid reaching too far to either side; instead, move the ladder to a new position to reach further. Limit Load: Do not exceed the ladder's weight capacity, including yourself and any tools or materials. Avoid the Top Rung: Never stand on the top rung or step of the ladder, as it can lead to loss of balance & falls.
Most of the precautionary points are mentioned. Here are my two additional points: 1.Do not stand on the top three rungs of a straight ladder. 2. No work while standing over the ladder ( only for ascending descending ). Also ,If the ladder is placed in a location where it can be displaced by other activities, secure it to prevent movement or use a barricade to keep traffic away. Additionally, I strongly recommend avoiding the use of straight ladders for work tasks. Instead, use temporary platforms to ensure safety, as straight ladders are suitable only for ascending and descending, not for performing work.
Also explain the A type ladder precautions
Arshad Hussain Some of the common hazards when using the Ladders are: 1) Over reaching the working platform: Do not use the top step of ladder as a working platform 2) Over loading: Never exceed the ladders weight capacity 3) Uninspected ladder: Ladders must be inspected by competent person before use 4) Work without supervision: Don't allow to work on ladder without ground supervision 5) Ground surface: Setup the ladder on stable and even surface 6) Electrocution: Keep ladders away from electrical sources unless they are non conductive 7) High wind: Avoid to climb and work on ladder if the wind speed exceed 32 Km/hr. 8) 3 point contact: Worker must maintain three point contact during climbing the ladder.
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of ladders. Store ladders in a dry, safe place where they won’t be damaged. Have a plan for emergencies, including falls and ladder-related incidents. Use signage to warn of ladder use in high-traffic areas.
