Customer Relationship Management! (This is a real story with names changed for the sake of privacy) One hot afternoon, as the sun was scorching the city of Nagpur, Mr. Sudheer (name changed) found himself alone in his shop. His 20+ strong staff went on unannounced mass leave, leaving him to manage the shop by himself. With orders to fulfill and customers to serve, Sudheer felt overwhelmed by the sudden responsibility. His was one of the top firms of the city with 40+ top companies in his distributorship. Customers were returning. It was an embarrassing situation for him. Just as he was contemplating how to handle the day ahead, a familiar face appeared at the door at around 2:30 pm. It was Wasim (name changed), a sales representative from one of the pharmaceutical companies Sudheer regularly worked with. Sensing his distress, Wasim offered to help run the shop by attending as many orders as they could together. He also called his pool colleagues who had completed the work for the first half of the day. Grateful for the offer of assistance, Sudheer explained the situation to Wasim. Without hesitation, Wasim rolled up his sleeves and jumped in to lend a hand. Together, they tackled the day's tasks, from organizing inventory to processing orders and assisting customers. Throughout the day, they shared stories and laughter, forging a stronger bond between them. Isn’t that Customer Relationship Management! In the literal sense??? #sales #salesmanager #salesmanagement #organizationalchange #organizationaldevelopment #culture #change #pharmasales #pharmamanagement

Sales is an art. And sales can happen anywhere.... Ever had that moment when you think, "No way this is happening!"? Well, I did, and it's a story that'll make you believe in the magic of sales! A client from Surat, dreaming of 20,000 sq ft of artificial grass for his bungalow. We're talking about an 18 L rupee order here. Not a small change, right? But here's the twist - our client's on a ticking clock. He's catching a train from Borivali (for those who don't know, it's a bustling station in Mumbai), and he's got a mere 35 minutes. No time for a showroom visit. What do we do? Well, if the client can't come to the grass, we bring the grass to the client! 😎 The next thing: We're rolling out artificial grass on a crowded railway platform. Yes, you read that right! People are staring, probably thinking we've lost our marbles. But our client? He's walking on it, feeling it under his feet. And guess what? He loves it! Now, this is where it gets cinematic. The train starts moving. Our client, in true SRK style, leans out and shouts those three magic words: "deal is done". 18+ L first order and multiple projects in Surat to follow. All closed in 35 minutes on a railway platform. If that's not sales art, I don't know what is! 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻? 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗯𝗮𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹. Now I believe "In sales, if there's a will, there's a way... and sometimes that way is a railway!" What's your craziest sales story? Ever closed a deal in an unexpected place? Share your experiences - I'm all ears! #sales #experiences #founder #opportunities

How My Mistake Cost Me 5x in Sales—And What I Learned Ever felt like you’re running in circles, covering every possible ground, but missing out on the real gains? I did too—until I discovered a game-changing strategy that multiplied my sales by 5x. In my first year visiting schools, I aimed to cover Delhi, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Aurangabad, Nagpur, and more. The plan? Spend 3-4 days in each city, make connections, and convert schools. But as the year progressed, I realized something alarming. I was constantly rushing and not optimizing my time. My conversions were inconsistent, and follow-ups were sparse. One day, it hit me: what if I focused on just 2-3 regions? By dedicating more time to fewer areas, I could build deeper relationships and provide better support. I tested this and chose two key regions. I spent weeks building strong connections and understanding their needs. The results were astounding—my sales skyrocketed by 5-7x. The lesson? Less can be more. Focusing on fewer areas leads to greater efficiency and higher sales. Instead of spreading thin, dive deep into key regions and watch your results soar. Have you faced similar challenges in your sales journey? Share your story and let the world know your insights! #SalesTips #SalesStrategy #EfficiencyInSales #FocusForGrowth #SchoolSales P.S. This is a photo from one of my very first official trips to Aurangabad

3 Essentials for #Successful #Salescall In sales, there are three key steps that make all the difference: before, during, and after the call. Here’s how to make each stage count: 1. #Preparation is Key Before stepping into a sales call, preparation is everything. A sales executive should be well-versed in their product/service and familiar with the customer’s business. This means knowing what they do, who their current vendors are, and if they have any pain points. Without a plan, success is far less likely—after all, “failing to plan is planning to fail.” 2. Engaging with #Purpose When you’re in the meeting, start by greeting the customer warmly. Focus on the value you can provide, and avoid jumping straight into the sales pitch. Sometimes the customer might say they don’t have time or that another vendor is already supplying them. Even if you hear a “no,” stay positive and confident. Remember, “NO” can stand for “Next Opportunity.” Build a strong rapport before you leave. 3. #Followup Matters Many sales are closed thanks to effective follow-up. After the call, make sure to check in and address any lingering questions or needs. By planning ahead, engaging thoughtfully, and following up, we can take our sales performance to the next level. During my time as a sales executive with a tractor company in Lucknow, I managed four districts. One day, we received news that our new National Sales Manager (NSM) would be joining us for the month-end review. Naturally, my colleagues and I started preparing the usual presentations—data on deliveries, payments collected, and other performance metrics. On the day of his visit, the NSM arrived, and after brief introductions, the meeting began. The sales manager of the Gorakhpur belt presented first, followed by the manager from the Allahabad belt. Midway through the second presentation, the NSM suddenly stood up and interrupted. "I’m not interested in the number of tractors delivered or the money collected. To me, that’s not sales," he said. "What you’ve shown me are just historical figures. I want to know what's happening right now. The sales process remains active in the field while we're sitting here. I want to feel the pulse of that." He continued, "Sales is about demand generation, prospect conversion, and delivery—three key stages. Deliveries and payments are the dealer's responsibility. Your job is to optimize the prospect conversion process continuously. I want a detailed review of each stage of this process at every month-end meeting." His words hit us hard. We realized that we had been doing a transactional job, simply reporting deliveries and payments, while neglecting the controllable factors that drive real sales. From that day on, our approach changed completely. The first step was creating a calendar for demand-generation activities. We also implemented enquiry registers at each dealership, ensuring they were updated daily. Our reviews with dealers shifted focus to discussing each prospect's progress, the challenges in converting them, and learnings from unsuccessful attempts. This shift in mindset empowered us. Instead of merely delivering results, we began controlling the process. We could track our efforts better and were able to achieve our goals with greater consistency and success. #SalesSuccess #SalesStrategy #TractorIndustry

“Arey, tu Chennai kyun jaana chahta hai? Kolkata ja, maa-baap hain wahan tere.” "Bahut mushkil hai sales aur woh bhi Chennai. Tere se nahi ho paayega" It was 2005, and there I was, nervously laying out my grand plan to switch from operations to sales in Praxair. The reaction? My sales head gave me one of those long, skeptical looks. “Sales? And Chennai? Are you sure?” I’ll give him this—he was a sharp guy, someone who knew the game inside out. He didn’t just throw people into sales without reason. And looking back, I’m not sure I’d have taken a chance on me either. Here’s why: I knew zero Tamil. I had zero sales experience. And I was heading to Chennai, known for its heat, idli, and a whole different sales dynamic. He had every reason to say no. Instead, he did something only great leaders do—he saw a spark in me, a little "sales bug," and chose to take a risk. Maybe he thought, “Let’s see what this guy’s made of.” And for that, I’ll always be grateful. So off I went to Chennai, carrying a mix of excitement, nerves, and a growing sense of, "What have I gotten myself into?" Three years. The best three years of my career back then. I stumbled, learned the language (sort of), sweated it out in the Chennai sun, and tackled the toughest challenges. Thanks to that sales head who believed in me, I found out what I was truly capable of. Here’s what I learned from that decision: 1. Sometimes, all it takes is one believer. We all need that one person who sees potential when no one else does. 2. Embrace the unknown. New cities, languages, and work environments—if you let them, they’ll make you resilient. It's a massive unlock. 3. Growth begins at discomfort. Safety feels nice, but real growth comes from taking leaps. To anyone considering a risky move—jump. You might just discover your best years on the other side.
