What kind of art do you create for fun and relaxation? I’d love to see your creations! Sometimes art isn’t doing something with a particular purpose or end goal in mind. Sometimes, it’s about having fun, and relaxing, without having to think about what you’re creating. I really love experimenting with different colours that work together, and here with the watercolour play, the yellow seemed to bring everything together. I love how you don’t know exactly what will happen when you throw two different paints together, and the results can often be surprising and pretty special. Whilst I was creating these paintings, I was balancing on a chair, dropping paint from a height! My partner walked into the room mid-flow, said something about me being bonkers, and then walked out 😂This is what happens when you live with an artist! That being said, the journey will keep going on. With the dawn of digital art, the biggest and most intimidating thing artists contend with is the almost infinite options now that the entire color wheel, undo, manipulation tools and more are unlocked and readily available. This can be so overwhelming that you'd probably want to quit and go back to traditional art where supplies were limited. Can you relate? If not, does this spark any ideas if you're having an art block? But with that being said, over the last few years, I decided to remove all the chaff of finding the best brushes and drown in digital paint. Monochromatic work and maybe a splash of singular color to brighten up the pieces. This allowed me to focus on perspective, composition, line and shape. And as you all may already know, I've gone back to colors in my recent works. Has it paid off? Confession time. I had serious artist block last week. I tried everything, nothing got my creativity flowing. A week of pushing myself to keep painting back and forth on the same painting, working on my website, prepping new canvasses, etc. went by. 🙄 At last I decided to spring clean my studio to do something useful at least and to clear my head at the same time. And then I found this jeans jacket I had purchased some time ago to do something painterly with. And there it was, the creative spark! A fresh idea, inspiration had found me again! ✨️ New things never seize to excite me, experimenting, exploring! A change of some sort, any sort!
