My experience with the folks behind #alphaonthedelta fits the plug below... the bottom line is that the election of Trump creates an especially complicated financial landscape where the trend is no longer obvious and thus wisdom is in high demand.
Save the Date: Alpha on the Delta 2025 will be taking place from April 30 - May 2, returning for our third year and coinciding with the legendary JazzFest in New Orleans. A world-class Alternatives conference, Alpha on the Delta offers a unique blend of music, culture, learning, and networking for select managers and investors. We look forward to a truly special time with you in New Orleans. Prescriptive rules vs guided adaptability. Guided adaptability isn’t about having NO rules. But it is about not having an insane amount of bureaucracy and overly complex requirements. It is based on the assumption with a decent, uncomplicated, basic level of compliance humans will come through using their adaptability, agility and resilience. Case in point. I wrote the following piece of music about a month ago. It’s for a full symphony orchestra (plus some extra instruments) and even if you can’t read music, you can see (and hear) all hell breaking loose around the midpoint from all the black notes on the screen. The thing is, I have only a high school music education and nothing like that compared with John Williams or Hans Zimmer, for example. I can’t name the chords and largely built the piece from imagination and by ear (listening). The outcome, I think, is quite good, if not better. In this case 40 years of playing instruments and observing those around me coupled with my basic theory in music provided me the guided adaptability for the exact outcome I desired. I though this may be a useful example - here’s the piece, enjoy and happy Sunday! #sms #newviewsafety #guidedadaptability #resilience #safetyresilience #complexity #music #composer #musicalcomposition

An interesting development. For decades, classical organisations and venues have battled with concert etiquette. There's a fine balance between ensuring limited disruption for patrons and building new audiences who share/document their experiences. An interesting development. Love this post about what we can all learn about elevating an audience’s experience, whether at a conference, concert, business meeting or morning huddle!

What Sting could teach us about an Opening Act. I attend probably more than my fair share of concerts, so it is fair to say that I have seen a whack of opening acts. There is a huge diverse range of style and talent that don that opening act hat. The purpose of an opening act can be varied however, typically the purpose is to engage the audience, “warm them up”, allow for stragglers to enter before the headliner goes on and to introduce an artist to a new audience and the audience to a new artist. It should engage their curiosity. Read what Sting did https://lnkd.in/egB7hQx7 As a keynote speaker I appreciate a good opening; a well delivered introduction can aid in the audience’s reception by increasing their curiosity and anticipation. A personalized introduction takes that to the next level. Sharing why this speaker was chosen and that you know that the message will resonate with this audience, the speaker was selected for them. In business, at work, in meetings and launches we can and should take care to prepare our audiences; our employees, our customers, our clients, our stakeholders to receive our messages, our recommendations, our products and our services. We can prepare them, warm them up, get them curious and get them ready to engage. What can you do to set the stage…? #curiosity #prepare #setthestage #performance
