Managing time effectively as a freelance 3D artist is crucial for productivity and success 1. Create a Schedule: Allocate specific times for different tasks such as client work, personal projects, marketing, and administrative tasks. 2. Prioritize Tasks: Identify the most important tasks and tackle them first. Use techniques like the Eisenhower Matrix to prioritize tasks based on importance and urgency. 3. Avoid Multitasking: Focus on one task at a time to maintain productivity and quality. Multitasking can lead to errors and inefficiencies. 4. Take Breaks: Schedule regular breaks to rest and recharge. Stepping away from your work periodically can improve focus and creativity. 5. Break Down Projects: Break down larger projects into smaller tasks or milestones. This makes them more manageable and allows you to track progress effectively. #3DArt #3DModeling #CGI #Blender3D #CreativeProcess #timemanagment #avoidmultitasking #ArtStation #3DDesign #dailytips

Working as a freelance 3D artist is nothing short of a challenge. Sleepless nights, client expectations, impostor syndrome, longer render times for more complex projects and creative blocks never cease to occur from time to time most especially when you have set targets. But all this doesn't mean you don't enjoy the journey, there is always light at the end of the tunnel and it sure is bright. No better feeling than when you finish a project and the client loves it. I actually take a day off or 2 every after a successful run. l am currently working on a Furniture reveal and self setup for a new product from FHURN.CO. so am pleased to share some progress that I have also shared with the client, as of now still so many more frames to render before I can share the whole preview. But I figured why not share what I am doing for now. #3dmotiondesign #productanimation #productvisualization #furnituredesign

Well, here we are, folks. Another day, another LinkedIn post about availability. It’s a tough market out there, like 2009 but with shinier tech and far fewer gigs to go around. So, if you need someone who can whip up visuals, campaigns, or that elusive spark of creativity, I’m your designer—2D, 3D, motion, sketches, you name it. I’m here, wide open for freelance gigs, and ready to dive in. If you’re interested, my work is over at archibalcreative.co.uk. Hopeful? Maybe. Desperate? …Let’s just say “available.” 😊 #freelancerlife #available #hireme #creativefreelancer #designwork #campaigns #visualstorytelling #freelancecreative #3Ddesign #graphicdesign #motiongraphics #designjobs #branding #visualdesign #experientialmarketing #posdesign #creativejobs #hirefreelance #openforwork

🔍 Are you accurately estimating the planned and actual costs of producing art content? I'm sure not always. In my 16 years in 3D art production, I've seen it all—from a seemingly simple monster model with textures for an MMORPG costing $30,000, to a set of muzzle brakes for sci-fi weapons, each costing $3,000-$5,000 and crafted by a single freelancer in just two days. Some freelancers were able to buy homes and new cars by freelancing for just six months to a year. I've also seen an in-house team estimate that one of many characters in their 3D game should cost $3,000-$5,000, while they were unperturbed by a two-month calendar deadline and a quality reference from God of War 2018. 💡 But the pinnacle for me was when I was working simultaneously on two AAA projects for clients from California, USA, and saw something striking—the tasks were so similar that a 3D artist could confuse which project he was working on. Yet, the difference in task valuation was twofold! Currently, I know of one major GaS AA project that uses an outsourced company's staff at a fixed hourly rate. The in-house team likes to nitpick and make minor changes on the fly, which ultimately shows that the average price of one asset—model and textures—is in the range of $20-$40k. However, by simply hiring an experienced specialist, a fixed rate of about $10-$20k per asset can be established. 📊 What prevents such calculations and adjustments in production approach? I don’t know. But I do know something else—that for different types of tasks and projects, different cost estimation methods are needed. Sometimes it's better to use an hourly rate, and sometimes it's worth discussing a fixed price per asset. Also, it might be worthwhile to discuss with an outsourcer or external consultant the possibilities for reducing costs. Very often, people outside the in-house team can offer effective ways to optimize the process. ⏳ However, it's important to remember that by saving on contractors, you are spending the resources of your in-house team—not just money, but also time. #3d #art #production #cost #gamedev #estimates #outsource
