The queue of projects waiting to connect to the grid is getting bigger and bigger.    𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 900𝐆𝐖 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞’𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬, equivalent to 118% of the capacity needed to be built by 2030. 🇪🇺   𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 and 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 are top barriers to delivering Europe’s 2030 targets, as highlighted in recent analysis by Aurora Energy Research   𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲:   💰Investment of over 1.5 trillion euros will be required by 2040 to integrate into, and upgrade, ageing grids.    💡In 2023, grid deficiencies led to the curtailment of nearly 30TWh, costing close to 9 billion euros across six European countries; total EU numbers if readily available, would be much higher. 🌍 & this is a problem we are seeing all over the world. While it's great that developers are so eager to build new renewable energy projects, that's not much use unless the projects can connect to the grid.
