Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Don’t ignore this with AI mania. - Yes, you could get AI to write x but should you? - Yes, you could build an AI team to run a department but should you? Generative AI is incredibly helpful. But, it should not take away from human learning and experiences. Many of you know I enjoy exploring AI tools for learning and performance. Yet, I find myself conflicted by tools that can seemingly do ‘everything’. I have no interest in AI agent teams running my entire L&D operations - what would be the point in that? I do want them to help with time-consuming tasks tho. My 2 cents, we each have the power to wield technology intelligently or stupidly based on our context. It’s like building a picture from an abstract sketch to full detail. The sketch gives an outline, but only with the details does the full richness come alive. Here’s what I found: → Start with knowledge generation First, I prompt the AI to list key facts or insights on a topic before moving to the main task. This step is like gathering all the right materials before building something big—it makes the response fuller and more thoughtful. → Then, knowledge integration With the basic details in place, I then ask for the main answer. The responses become richer and far more insightful. Whether it's drafting content, solving problems, or researching, this two-step approach has transformed the quality of outputs I get.
