Hello! 😊 As part of my MSc in Organisational Psychology at City, University of London, I am conducting research about the psychosocial factors influencing team peak performance, looking from the employee’s perspective. This research will shed light on what factors are necessary for a team to maximise their performance. For this reason, I am currently recruiting participants to take part in a semi-structured online interview. This interview is entirely anonymous and will take around 45 minutes. The results will be analysed and presented as an academic dissertation as well as summarised in a short blog post. In order to take part, you must fulfil the following criteria: ✅ Be over 18 ✅ Work in a team that is between 5 and 20 team members ✅ Have worked in the current team for at least 1 year ✅ Have previously in your career experienced your team reaching peak performance If you are interested in participating or know someone who would be, please send me a message via LinkedIn or email (Wiktoria.dziura@city.ac.uk). Thank you for your support! ✨ #psychology #peakperformance

Choosing Not to Pursue a Counseling Career After Studying Psychology While studying psychology opens many doors, opting out of a counseling career can be a valid choice for various reasons. Here are some factors to consider: 1. Emotional Toll: Counseling can be emotionally demanding. If managing your own emotions or the struggles of others feels overwhelming, this career may not be suitable. 2. Burnout Risk: The nature of counseling work can lead to burnout. If you’re not prepared for the emotional labor involved, it could result in exhaustion and decreased job satisfaction. 3. Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. If one-on-one interactions are challenging for you, counseling might not be the right path. 4. Continuous Learning: The field of psychology is always evolving, requiring ongoing education and supervision. If you prefer a more stable learning environment, this could be a drawback. 5. Licensing Requirements: Many counseling positions require specific licenses or certifications, which can involve time and financial investment. If you’re not willing to meet these requirements, options may be limited. 6. Work Environment: Counseling jobs vary widely in work environments. If you prefer a structured or corporate setting, traditional counseling roles might not align with your preferences. 7. Financial Considerations: Salaries in counseling can vary significantly. If financial stability is a priority, you might consider other career paths. 8. Personal Values: Conflicts between personal beliefs and counseling practices can create ethical dilemmas that may be hard to navigate. 9. Different Psychology Applications: Psychology is broad, with various applications. If you’re interested in research, teaching, or organizational psychology, counseling may not fulfill your aspirations. 10. Work-Life Balance: Counseling often involves irregular hours. If you value a predictable schedule, this might not be the best fit. Ultimately, the decision should reflect your personal interests, strengths, and career goals. Take time to reflect on what you truly want from your career in psychology. 💬 What are your thoughts on this topic? I’d love to hear your experiences and insights! 🤔 If you are a #Psychologist from India, you might have resonated with this viral post. [Refer Image] While it's not sans merit, it provokes negativity and undue speculation without clarifying what type of #supervision is being discussed. 🎯 🔍 While the author appears to speak from a place of concern, there is a clear #contradiction between what they're advocating and their own professional journey. 📚 The only degree their profile lists is MA in #Psychology (Clinical) between 2012-2014. As per the post, they are asking Psychologists with three years of experience to STOP working as supervisors (which doesn't clarify what supervision). So, how did they right after pursuing their masters, starting 2014, step into the role of 'Clinic and Counselling Head' - a position that inherently involves supervision? 🧐 💭 This is what we call a problem of #projection, also #cognitivedissonance. Seniority comes with compassion and objectivity, not outright cancellation. ✅ For example, I have a BA in English Honours and 17 years of work experience with C-suite executives across industries in corporate communications with Fortune 100, 500s, and SMBs. I've managed large teams. And then, I am a #poet, #author, and one of the four flagbearers of Indian poetry (Google me). At 37, I am pursuing Masters in Psychology (Clinical) with 240 hours of internship, 300 pages for practicals, and 200 pages of Research on Perceived Stress, Quality Sleep, and Subjective Memory with 120 real sample size. 🤯 🫣 So, as per their post, it would mean I cannot supervise #research and #communication in corporate or rural #mentalhealth setups? 👉 And even if I am an exception, it cannot be right for anyone. MA Psychology students know what they are getting into, and if they have an opportunity to supervise, they are hired based on their talent or the will of the #employer. Experienced mental health professionals need not panic but be specific if there are objective corrections to make. Undue #gatekeeping is as miserable as #gaslighting. 🙏🧠 #LinkedinCommunity #IndianPsychology

There are scientific studies supporting the effectiveness of affirmations in job searches. Here are some key findings: - A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences revealed that a values-based self-affirmation intervention significantly increased reemployment success for unemployed individuals. Self-affirmation boosts confidence and resilience, positively impacting job search outcomes. - Research highlighted by the Palmer Group indicates that individuals who practice self-affirmation can significantly improve problem-solving skills, especially under stress. This skill can be particularly beneficial during a job search, where stress and anxiety are common. - Self-affirmations have broader psychological benefits, helping individuals maintain a positive self-view crucial during challenging times like job searches. Claude Steele's Self-Affirmation Theory suggests that affirmations aligned with core values can mitigate threats to self-esteem, promoting healthier behaviors and attitudes. - Studies have shown that self-affirmations can motivate individuals to engage in positive behaviors, leading to meaningful changes like exercising and healthy eating. - Affirmations can enhance coping mechanisms by bolstering individuals' sense of self-worth, helping them maintain a positive outlook during job search challenges. Incorporating positive affirmations into your daily routine can be a valuable tool in maintaining motivation, reducing stress, and ultimately improving job search outcomes.

Fascinating study! I have seen the shift in thinking styles in managers and leaders that I have worked with over the years as they progressed to different roles in their organizations. Shifts do not need to be large; some small shifts, at times transitory, can make a huge difference in how they operate and succeed in their roles. Want to learn more?
