The holiday season often brings an array of delicious foods, and while it’s tempting to share the joy of these treats with our furry friends, some holiday delights can be dangerous for pets. It's important to keep their health in mind as we indulge in seasonal favourites. To ensure your pet stays safe and healthy during the festivities, follow these simple DOs and DON’Ts: DOs: ·Do keep pet-friendly treats handy so your pets can join the celebration safely. ·Do store leftovers securely and out of reach to avoid any accidental munching. ·Do educate your guests about foods that could be harmful to your pets. ·Do provide your pets with a quiet space to retreat if the celebrations become overwhelming. DON'Ts: ·Don’t feed your pet chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, or anything sweetened with xylitol, as these are toxic to pets. ·Don’t leave food unattended where curious paws could reach. ·Don’t give pets bones from meat, as they can splinter and cause injury. ·Don’t assume all holiday decorations are safe, especially if they smell or taste appealing to animals. Enjoy the festivities responsibly and keep your pets’ safety a top priority. #OCGwellbeing #OCG #mentalhealth #seafarer #CrewMentalHealth #PrioritiseWellBeing #Shipping Exhibition #Maritime #HealthAtSea #OneCareGroup

🦃 Thanksgiving is a time for family, gratitude, and delicious meals, but it can overwhelm seniors. Here are some quick tips to ensure a stress-free and enjoyable holiday for everyone involved: 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 & 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁: Keep walkways clear of obstacles and ensure that seating is comfortable and accessible. Use hand sanitizers and air hugs to limit germ exposure. 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽: Opt for a simple menu with a few main dishes and sides. Consider ordering some items to save time and delegate tasks to family members to make cooking a fun group activity. 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Choose your travel method wisely, pack essentials like a travel pillow and snacks, and use apps for navigation and weather updates. 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 & 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Encourage participation and use technology to connect with distant family members. Set up relaxing spaces to provide personal space during gatherings. 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿-𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀: Focus on easy-to-chew vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and low-sodium options. Adjust recipes for dietary needs like lactose intolerance or diabetes. 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: Share stories, engage in creative activities, and use technology to keep connected with loved ones who can't be there in person. The festive season is upon us and Christmas is a time of joy, family, and celebration. However, for many Africans, the rising cost of living casts a shadow on the holiday spirit. With increasing food prices🍍, higher transport costs🚌, and economic pressures, families are struggling to make ends meet while still trying to honor cherished traditions. Despite these challenges, the resilience and community spirit of the continent shine through, as people find creative ways to celebrate, share, and spread the holiday cheer.🎆 Planning ahead can make a world of difference during the festive season. Regularly saving just $250 a month throughout the year can accumulate to $3,000 by December—a significant cushion for holiday expenses. This simple habit helps families prepare for rising costs, reducing financial stress and ensuring they can celebrate without debt. By prioritizing savings, even in small amounts, it’s possible to enjoy a more secure and joyful holiday season.🎄 If you would like to hear more about our Regular Savings Plans please don't hesitate to reach out.....But Remember, regular savings aren't just for Christmas!!🎄🎅🏻

The highly anticipated Christmas season is upon us once again! We hope that you’re looking forward to the upcoming festivities as much as we are, but we wanted to take a moment this morning to remind you that the stressors of the season are not all yours to carry. While the run up to Christmas is a time full of fun and excitement, it can also bring an added element of pressure. Gathering gifts, making Christmas plans and preparing to spend the season amongst our nearest and dearest is not always easy, so this year, we encourage you to prioritise the things that are within your control. Where you choose to spend your time and energy, your spending budget, your own traditions and the way that you choose to treat yourself this Christmas are all within the boundaries of your own control; whereas shipping deliveries and delays, travel disruption and cancellations, the behaviours and actions of others and ongoing family tiffs most certainly are not! We can only control so much, life is full of ups and downs and unexpected twists and turns. This year, let’s give ourselves a chance to enjoy the festive season… let go of the things that you cannot control, and give yourself some grace! We’re only one person, and we can only carry so much, so this Christmas, let’s leave the heavy baggage to Mr. Claus… goodness knows he’s the professional! 🎅🏼🎁🧸 #motuslearning #motusmovement #wellbeing #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthandwellbeing #selfcare #christmas #christmasselfcare #christmasseason #christmasstress #seasonalpressure #festiveseason #emotionalwellbeing #emotionalintelligence #emotionalhealth

As we move into this year's festive season, I am sure we are all looking forward to all the merriment, joy & gifts that it brings 🎄🎁🤶🏼🎍 From Christmas songs starting to play on the radio, to decorations in our homes, on our lawns, inside most stores, places of worship, schools, on trees, everywhere you look over the next few weeks, you'll see a wide assortment of Christmas magic everywhere ✨ Along with the magic that these decorations evoke, come so many delicious mouth-watering foods we've all come to enjoy since we were kids😋 With all that will be going on over the next few weeks, we sometimes forget that with the abundance of holiday parties, get-togethers, staff parties, ect. leading up to the big day (Christmas then New Years Eve) to keep balance in mind. Balance around: -what we'll be eating & drinking 😋🍷🍸🍻 -the times of the day/night we'll be eating & drinking 🔆 🌃 -exercise for our body (daily) 🏃🏾♀️ -downtime & personal selfcare 🛀 🧘 -sleep 🛌🏽 💤 -checking in on friends, the elderly & neighbours living on their own 👨🏽🦽👴🏽 -giving back (as isn't this the season for giving) 🧑🤝🧑🧑🏾🤝🧑🏾 Over the next few weeks, I'll share some really easy 'tips' to ensure you are creating that balance (in each of the above) so you do not overindulge (which may lead you down the road to unfavorable outcomes after the holidays🥴) This week balancing tip- All those delicious foods, desserts & drinking you will be indulging in over the next few weeks 😋🍷🍸 *if you know you will be eating & drinking alcohol whether during lunch time celebrations or later in the evening, eat a small veggie salad 🥗 either before heading out or as your first course. Not only will your salad provide the healthy nutrients you body craves, it will fill you up so you don't overeat (especially during those evening meals) *keep yourself hydrated (sometime those hunger pangs are just your bodies way of letting you know it just needs a drink of water and not food) so keep your water bottle filled and within reach Till next week, enjoy each and every moment of your festive season with loved ones, friends, colleagues & your neighbours 🎉🎈🎁🎆
