We talk a lot about what's missing in society and it's pivotal to advocate for this and to realign power dynamics. It's vital we consider a more equitable approach and respectfully challenge disproportionate spend and glaring gaps in support. It's also important we give air time to what works beautifully and is perhaps understated or missed out of the narrative. Every week I pinch myself for having the opportunity to chat with leaders of grassroots VCSE organisations providing compassionate, thoughtful, relational support in the heart of communities. They often emerge from personal adversity, with a natural momentum to fill gaps (ok sometimes chasms) in existing support ecosystems. They are innovative, inspired, rigorous in design & most importantly, they are heart-led...creating gentle, safe spaces for connection and collaboration. These services are sometimes below the radar, because those behind the scenes are concentrating on sustaining their existence, pouring their energy into delivery & growth, often alongside growing families. This is no mean feat. These organic support services work well, because they are rooted in humanity. They provide sanctuary through vulnerable times and they are an essential facet of what it means to be in community. Perhaps we can reimagine the ecosystem if we leverage what works well alongside exploring opportunities for development? We might draw on collective learning across the breadth of the landscape to come together, avoid duplication and show up with an openness to possibility. #perinatalmentalhealth #integratedcare #vcse

👀 The best thing to see on a Friday before a long weekend - The Sinneave Family Foundation's initiative NEUROinclusive Workforce Solutions as a featured member on the Calgary Chamber of Commerce website! Our small but mighty organization is doing such awesome work living out our mission of reducing barriers and enhancing opportunities for Autistic and neurodivergent youth and adults. Did you know that 1 in 5 people are neurodivergent? Yep, 15-20% of the population! Did you also know that you can teach skills that increase employability...and neurodivergent people will still be neurodivergent? 😄🧠 NEUROinclusive Workforce Solutions provides employers from ANY industry the opportunity to take responsibility for the factors contributing to low employment rates among neurodivergent groups, and learn (for free!) how to increase neuroinclusivity in your workplace. The solutions are often low to no cost, and end up supporting other equity-deserving groups since they're rooted in Universal Design. Message me if you want to learn more!

Beam and Zero Gravity are united in a partnership which provides opportunity to those who most deserve it - but are often unfairly passed over. For those of you who don’t know, Beam is a social impact organisation which supports underserved people with human-centred technology. Beam supports people to get jobs, homes and skills, and to date has over 3000 case studies to prove their impact. And you already know what we do - so you know that partnering with another tech for good organisation is a dream come true 👊 Ziyad from Beam wrote an incredible piece for us on what the partnership means to him, reflecting on his own personal journey as a refugee, and why Zero Gravity might have changed his life. Here’s a sample… “I’m Ziyad, I am a refugee, I grew up in a council house with a single mother… Growing up you are never aware of the scale of inequality in the world; certainly not how disproportionate opportunities will have such a major impact on your future. School was easy for me and, like other high achievers at my school, we were often overlooked by teachers. Our school had to focus on those bordering the GCSE pass rate, so that they could secure more funding and help those that needed it most. I understand that decision. However, it is not farfetched for me to say…. Zero Gravity would have changed my life." It’s a super powerful piece which highlights exactly why we’re so gassed to be working with Ziyad and his team over at Beam. The future is tech-powered - and it’s looking bright. Ziyad is one of our mentors on our career mentoring program - but more on that later 😉 https://lnkd.in/giBUkQ8T #socialimpact #socialmobility #beam
