Vincent Zhang, a Consultant in our Hong Kong office, speaks four languages and likes to unwind with tea and scenic views during the work day. Read on to learn about his early career achievements, midday habits and more. What has been a career highlight for you so far at FTI Consulting? Vincent: In my capacity as a Consultant, I am primarily engaged in problem-solving and the composition of detailed reports. Therefore, a notable highlight in my career was the first time I played a role in securing a project, which was a direct result of the preliminary research I contributed to. Although the project was modest in scale, it underscored the critical importance of understanding the client’s requirements and delivering research results promptly. What about your industry excites you? Vincent: The industry excites me not merely as a field of employment but as a dynamic environment conducive to continuous learning. It offers the opportunity to delve into the intricacies of various sectors we frequently engage with, including finance, technology and energy. The acquisition of new knowledge is profoundly rewarding. What do you do to unwind during the work day? Vincent: I grab a cup of tea at the networking lounge and stand next to the window. FTI's Hong Kong office boasts an impressive view of the Victoria Harbour. You already speak four languages (wow!), but if you could learn another language, what would you choose? Vincent: Hokkien. Proficiency in this language would enhance my comprehension of the culture and the society of Greater China and Southeast Asia. It would also be advantageous for conducting our due diligence projects in these regions. While many languages are readily translatable via web browsers or machine translation tools, Hokkien remains a notable exception.
