Council of Europe Co-operation projects highlights in 2023: Making gender equality a reality for all women Keeping in mind there's still a lot to be done, the Council of Europe has compiled its key achievements of its projects with beneficiary countries. From trainings of professionals, to new policy frameworks that enshrine international standards and best practices, 2023 has been a year of progress and renewed commitment towards advancing #genderequality. #moveup #genderequality #genderbalance

It's imperative to move beyond hashtags and actively work towards making equity a reality for children and victims, particularly in matters of violence and sexual abuse. The Council of Europe's commitment to gender equality and protecting women's rights is crucial, and it's encouraging to see the critical achievements of cooperation projects with beneficiary countries highlighted in 2023. The emphasis on training professionals and implementing new policy frameworks aligned with international standards is a positive step towards ensuring accountability and safeguarding human rights. It's an essential reminder that the energy of all involved and informed authorities should be directed towards immediately returning children safely home and sanctioning human rights violations on the spot.

Gender equality starts at the top! The new EU Commission must reflect the people they serve. In 2019 we had an even number of men and women in the top jobs of the European Commission. But this time around, EU governments have only proposed 9 women out of 26 Commissioner spots. Are we moving back in time?
