Only 34% of lower and middle-income countries’ finance their HIV responses domestically (compared to 96% of other health systems costs). Globally, more work is needed to drive forward increased sustainable financing of HIV prevention and treatment by 2030. On December 10, join @PATH for a dynamic webinar that discusses diverse financing channels for sustaining the #HIV response and features case studies from countries with exciting examples of mixed financing models. A panel of government and donor representatives and advocates will round out the session by sharing practical insights, lessons, and considerations to keep in mind as countries move forward with sustainability planning and implementation. #WorldAIDSDay #ProudofPEPFAR Register for the "Sustainable financing 2030: Accelerating integrated and country-owned HIV responses over the next five years" webinar here 👉🏽: https://lnkd.in/dtJrn2Ub

It's been a busy time for #HIV management in recent weeks - with updates such as repealing the disclosure requirement for people living with HIV in Singapore who can show an undetectable viral load to news that #CRISPR technology can deactivate dormant HIV fragments hiding in infected cells (https://lnkd.in/gTF4kruh). To make the goal of #HIVElimination realistic and attainable; however, we need to keep pace and continue efforts to meet the #WHO "3x95%" target. Hopefully the recommendations laid out in this White Paper will help not only maintain focus, but also advance the strategic thinking needed to achieve this. I would also highly recommend Jean Iau's excellent article about the recent Infectious Disease Act amendments and how these could have an impact in advancing Singapore's efforts in meeting the 95-95-95 goals https://lnkd.in/ggy7tNBZ #UequalsU #Testing #NoStigma #EndAIDS
Approaches to managing #HIV have come leaps and bounds over the past few years and goals such as HIV #cure or #elimination are now more attainable than ever. Achieving such aims requires a precise and targeted strategy across various disciplines. To help define and prioritise these approaches, #VistaHealth collaborated with Abbott in developing a white paper entitled "Strengthening HIV Care and Management: APAC’S Path to Progress”. The white paper outlines critical barriers and proposes actionable strategies to strengthen HIV care and improve patient outcomes via innovative diagnostic tests. Developing a comprehensive multi-stakeholder approach in the region is critical to achieving this and ensuring the scalability and accessibility of testing technologies. We at Vista Health are dedicated to bridging the last-mile gaps of the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets and helping to achieve the ultimate goal of ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030. Quoting UNAIDS, “If there is one lesson that the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us, it is that pandemics can’t be ended anywhere until they are ended everywhere”. Happy Friday! This week, we continue to honor the significance of World AIDS Day, which we celebrated on December 1st. This year’s theme, Advancing Research, Inspiring Hope, reminds us of the critical strides made in HIV/AIDS research and the work still ahead. Here are a few key facts: 1️⃣ Global Impact: Approximately 38.4 million people worldwide are living with HIV, with 1.5 million new infections in 2022 alone. 2️⃣ Progress in Treatment: Antiretroviral therapy (ART) has transformed HIV into a manageable condition, helping people live long, healthy lives. 3️⃣ Importance of Testing: Knowing your status through regular testing is one of the most powerful tools in HIV prevention and treatment. For those seeking resources: HIV.gov offers comprehensive information on prevention, testing, and treatment. The CDC HIV/AIDS Page provides the latest statistics, guidelines, and educational tools. #WorldAIDSDay #HIVAIDS #Research #Advocacy #BWICR

Today is World AIDS Day. People living with HIV are at a higher risk for certain cancers due to their compromised immune systems. This emphasizes the need for comprehensive healthcare and support for those affected by both conditions. This year’s theme, "Take the Rights Path," reminds us that the world can end AIDS if everyone’s rights are protected. Everyone has the right to access accurate information about HIV prevention, treatment options, and care, regardless of who they are, where they come from, or their status. Acceptance, respect, and dignity are also important for those affected by HIV. Let’s break the stigma, promote human rights, and take the “rights” path toward an HIV-free future.

Today June 5th is "HIV/AIDS Long Term Survivor Awareness Day." #HALTSAD It is annually observed on the anniversary of the first official Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) on what would later become known as AIDS in 1981. Long term survivors make up a significant portion of those currently living with HIV for 20, 30, even 40 years. Their stories are testament to the power of resilience and the advancements in medical science including: treatment as prevention (those with undetectable HIV viral loads = cannot transmit HIV a.k.a "U=U"), advancements in medical treatment of HIV/AIDS, and the utilization of PrEP for HIV negative individuals for HIV prevention. Today, let's celebrate the triumphs and honour the struggles of long-term survivors. Let's stand in solidarity, fostering a world where every person living with HIV/AIDS receives the support, care, and respect they deserve. ❤️What is U = U?: https://ow.ly/KuTI50S8ynf 💊Learn more about PrEP: https://ow.ly/xku350S8yne 🚫What is "treatment as prevention?": https://ow.ly/rGNZ50S8ynh
