Ladder systems if designed and installed correctly offer far more safety to the user than things like twin tail lanyards, but only if your RAMS are written correctly as they will detail things like having a traveller that passes joints. Systems may also need an extension if the ladder ends at platform height so the user doesn't detach until they are safe. They may still need a PFL, Personal Fall Limiter, to attach to another anchor point before detaching from the ladder system. The possible weight of the users as some systems may be limited to 100kg users and most importantly how would you conduct rescue if it's ever needed. Your RAMS should break all of this down and cover every aspect, but this will only happen if they are site specific and truly evaluate the task. Even things like the helmet need to be covered, the one used in this video is pretty clever. This helmet can be set for EN397 construction use or by pushing the tabs it converts to an EN12492 climbing helmet where the harness to chin strap must take far more force so it doesn't detach. What is a height safety ladder system? It's a cable or rail fitted to a fixed ladder, allowing users to attach to it to climb or descend remaining attached at all times, capturing a fall if one takes place. There are many different systems that are on offer and some may be far better than others depending on your ladder or ladders. How the traveller connects, can it pass joints for instance? Have the users been trained to use it correctly and made arrangements for emergency rescue if it's ever required. Safety is often a life critical decision and as such all details should be looked at to ensure that what is selected is fit for purpose. Your RAMS if written correctly and site specific will cover everything and determine the correct equipment selection, training and other things that are required to conduct the task. Attachment for winches, fall arresters and such like is often not easy, especially when it comes to entry into vessels and tanks within certain industries, this is where the #genesiprotection winch mount can come into it's own. The winch mount can be attached where space is at a premium and even be unbolted and removed when not required, so long as the area for it to be fitted to was designed or tested following the correct standards. Designed with a rotational mounting plate this will accommodate a direct line to your pulleys or slide system to allow for a safe entry. The system also allows for 2 devices to be used so can be used for personnel riding where you need a primary and secondary device as well as satisfying the requirements for rescue. Side entry can present many problems out of the norm from where anchor points can be located to casualty extraction through what may be a 90 degree lift at the hatch, but there are plenty of options out there if you look. This Genesi entry slide allows the casualty to be lifted continuously to the point of extraction, reducing the need for the team to lean too far into the chamber itself which could create risk of a fall or injury through lifting incorrectly. The entry system itself is a Genesi bolt on anchorage point with a Pole Hoist and this suits bolt on flanges very well but still needs to be studied in detail within your RAMS as space could still be an issue. It should always be a detailed site specific RAMS that determines everything you will require, from the number of entrants to the equipment used. New products may end up making entry far simpler for specialist applications like this #genesiprotection winch post. Small and simple to mount offering multiple angles and spacing for user device attachment. This is just another specialist product in the #genesi range and could be the answer to a number of entry situations where space is cramped and traditional systems wouldn't work. This will of course be determined by a site specific RAMS where a full understanding of the entry and task requirements are known. Another installation done that will keep people safe when conducting their standard roof maintenance. This is just putting the required pull test upon the swaged joint to ensure that it will hold in the event of a fall. This system was designed and fitted by us as a distributor of the manufacturer, using their engineers to ensure that all parameters were checked so the system would be fully compliant and fit for purpose. All roof and ladder systems must only use parts that the manufacturer has stated or supplied as the use of other parts even if they look similar would mean the system does not conform.
