Retail’s busiest season continues to be blighted with the ever-increasing problem of shoplifting. While practical measures like security guards and cameras provide some deterrence, they aren't always enough. The answer to this problem is staring retailers in the face. My Local Bobby and TM Eye have had significant success in tackling retail crime across all their beats. Prosecution and conviction is the ONLY effective option. Retailers need to look at their own internal non intervention and non enforcement policies if they really want to stop this tsunami of retail crime and more importantly violence towards their own staff. https://lnkd.in/eGfPNgYM

🚨 DID YOU KNOW? 🚨 According to the Council on Criminal Justice, the shoplifting rate during the first half of 2024 was 24% higher, on average, than during the same period in 2023. February and March saw increases of 30%, and May experienced a staggering 37% rise in shoplifting incidents compared to the same months last year. 📈 This trend underscores a stark reality: retail crime is not just persisting; it's escalating. As societal and economic pressures mount, the incentive for such crimes only grows stronger. This isn't a temporary surge but a clear signal that more robust preventative measures are urgently needed. #actioncs #lossprevention #retailsecurity #protectyourbusiness

We welcome the commitments outlined in the King’s Speech to tackle the scourge of shoplifting in retail stores and making assaulting a shopworker a specific criminal offense. The changes come as England and Wales recorded over a jaw dropping 430,000 offences in 2022/2023 according to the ONS. At Kingdom, we want all our security officers to feel safe and supported and for shopworkers to be safe. Our Chief Operating Officer, Graham Allison, said: "Maintaining essential security measures in place can act as a deterrent for shoplifters and heighten public awareness of the issue, the proposed changes in law are welcome steps in tackling the issue.” #KingsSpeech | #RetailSecurity | #RetailCrime
