Seeing this picture of my nephew Jesse crying makes me think of how, from a young age, boys are often taught that "boys don't cry." This harmful stereotype can lead to men suppressing their emotions and avoiding seeking help when they need it most. Men's mental health is a crucial topic that often goes unspoken. Did you know that over half a million men took a mental health screening test through Mental Health America last year? Shockingly, three out of four men were at risk of having a mental health condition. Despite this, men are two times LESS likely to seek support for their mental health. This #MensMentalHealthMonth, let’s break the stigma. It's important to remember that mental health conditions are real, common, and treatable. Reaching out for help is a sign of STRENGTH, not weakness. Recovery is possible, and no one has to face it alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available. Call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org. You can also reach Crisis Text Line by texting HELLO to 741741. Let's support each other and prioritize mental health. #MensHealth #MentalHealthMatters #EndTheStigma #SupportEachOther

"The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." - Nelson Mandela~ Today, let's reflect on these words of wisdom as we embark on the journey of understanding #MentalHealth. #Resilience plays a vital role in this journey. Mental health encompasses our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, influencing every aspect of our lives. By increasing awareness and knowledge of mental health, we can break down stigma, promote early intervention, and foster a culture of compassion and acceptance. Let's take the time to educate ourselves and others about mental health conditions, symptoms, and available resources for support. Together, we can empower individuals to seek help when needed and create a more inclusive environment. As we strive to understand mental health, let's remember that knowledge is key to empathy and support. Let's continue the work towards building a world where mental health is prioritized and destigmatized. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #UnderstandingMentalHealth #BreakTheStigma #Empathy #Support #KnowledgeIsPower

#𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 - 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧'𝐭! One out of every two people in the world will develop a mental health disorder in their lifetime, according to a large-scale study co-led by researchers from Harvard Medical School and the University of Queensland. It is the real epidemic of this century! For patients of mental illness, it remains a stigma. Hence, there are several reasons why people with mental health issues often choose not to reveal their condition. These reasons are deeply rooted in societal attitudes, personal fears, and practical concerns. Concealing mental health struggles leads to isolation, emotional exhaustion, fear, and shame. It hinders healing, delays treatment, and causes identity conflict and physical symptoms. The stress of secrecy can worsen mental health, risking crisis. To help someone feel comfortable revealing their mental health struggles, show deep empathy and actively listen without judgment, creating a safe and secure space. Educate yourself about mental health issues and offer informed, unwavering support, respecting their pace and boundaries. By fostering open, compassionate communication and using positive, non-stigmatizing language, you empower them to share their challenges confidently and without fear. #diversity #equity #inclusion #mentalhealth #mentalillness #empathy Subha Pandian AGUA

Did you know that 1 in 5 children and adolescents are diagnosed with a mental health disorder each year? Despite the high prevalence, many people don’t seek the help they need because of the stigma surrounding mental health. Here’s why destigmatizing mental health matters: ▪️ When people are afraid to talk about their struggles, they miss out on early interventions that could help them manage their symptoms and live healthier, happier lives. ▪️ With proper treatment, 80-90% of people with depression and anxiety experience significant improvements in their quality of life. ▪️ Untreated mental health issues can lead to more severe outcomes, including difficulty in school, strained relationships, and in some cases, serious health concerns. How You Can Help Break the Stigma: ▪️ Start open and non-judgmental conversations: Normalize talking about mental health by checking in with friends, family, and children. Phrases like, “How are you feeling today—really?” can open the door to honest discussions. ▪️ Educate yourself and others: Learn about common mental health conditions and share that knowledge to combat misconceptions. ▪️ Be a safe space: Make it known that it’s okay to talk about mental health and that everyone’s experience is valid. Let others know they are not alone. ▪️ Use inclusive language: Avoid using negative or dismissive terms like “crazy” or “weak” when discussing mental health. Let’s work together to create a world where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health—and where no one feels ashamed to ask for help. #EndTheStigma #MentalHealthAwareness #MentalHealthMatters #WorldMentalHealthDay #SupportAndCare #MentalHealthForAll #Healthlincs

If I had a £1 for every time a man in the construction industry told me that admitting to mental health struggles is a sign of weakness, I would be a millionaire! It's clear that men in this industry acknowledge there's a mental health problem, which is great. They're often the first to support their colleagues... amazing. Yet, when it comes to their own mental health, silence prevails. This culture of silent suffering needs to change. Admitting to mental health issues isn't a sign of weakness; it's a testament to one's strength and courage. We must make mental health an open subject of conversation so we need to: Encourage Open Dialogue: Share stories and experiences, breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. Provide Support: Ensure there are accessible resources and support systems for those in need with. Lead by Example: Show that seeking help is a brave step, not a weakness. This will not happen overnight but together, we can create a culture where everyone feels safe to speak up and seek the help they deserve. #MentalHealthMatters #ConstructionIndustry #BreakTheStigma #SupportEachOther #MentalWellbeing #StrongerTogether #mensmentalhealth #malesuicide

May is National Mental Health Month 💚 Men and women both experience mental health struggles, but men’s willingness to reach out for support can be discouraged by social stigmas, perceived standards of masculinity or fatherhood, and an overall lack of support circles. Approximately one million Canadian men suffer from major depression every year; 75% of successful Canadian suicides are men (Canadian Mental Health Association). What can we do? ~ Be a support person. ~ Speak out against men's mental health stigma. ~ Connect to & learn more from men’s mental health organizations. ~ Take care of your mental health! To our Fathers, Brothers, Sons, Cousins, and Friends: Give yourself kindness. You deserve it. #endthestigma #mensmentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #hereforyou #mentalhealthmonth #truenorth #truenorthab #truenorthsociety #healthyindividuals #healthyrelationships #healthycommunities
