It's going to be an exciting month full of travel and inspiring events. For the next three days, I’ll be in Hamburg at the #AshokaChangemakersSummit, a global gathering of social entrepreneurs, young innovators, and leaders from various sectors, organized by Ashoka. An incredible opportunity to connect, share, and explore solutions to some of the world’s most pressing issues. I’m honored to have been invited to lead a session titled “The End of the Heropreneur.” It's going to be about how the traditional narrative of entrepreneurship places all the burden on the “heroes” – often the founders – and how this mindset can be limiting and even harmful. 👉 As social entrepreneurs, we can sometimes become captives of our purpose, expected to be a constant guiding light for others. But being that light can be exhausting and even burn us out, as well as those closest to us. 👉This toxic narrative needs to change. We’ll be exploring how to build resilient organizations that don’t rely on a single leader but instead leverage the collective intelligence and accountability of the entire group. It’s about creating enterprises that are balanced, sustainable, and mentally healthy. If you’re attending, see you on Friday, the 6th! I’d love to connect and have a meaningful conversation about redefine what it means to lead in a sustainable and healthy way 💙 ➡ More here: https://lnkd.in/dAXBHycB

AFRICAN PROVERBS: GREAT HEIGHTS In the fast-paced world of entrepreneurship and ecosystem building, patience can feel like a forgotten art. We’re so focused on scaling, achieving, and disrupting that the simple, steady actions that lay the foundation for lasting success often go unnoticed. The proverb, "Little by little, the bird builds its nest," speaks to the essence of progress. A bird gathers one twig at a time, carefully placing each one to create a strong nest—something resilient enough to nurture life and withstand storms. Entrepreneurship works the same way. Every connection made, every partnership formed, and every small milestone achieved builds the foundation for a future of growth and innovation. These moments may feel small in isolation, but together, they form the bigger picture of success. In leadership, it’s the small, consistent actions that build trust and alignment—taking the time to acknowledge a team member’s effort, prioritising listening over speaking, or supporting someone through a challenge. These moments become the framework for a thriving team and enduring impact. Building entrepreneurial ecosystems is no different. The best ones are shaped not by grand gestures but through the steady accumulation of shared effort, collaboration, and trust. The first cohort of entrepreneurs, the first mentoring session, the first successful venture - each is a step toward an ecosystem that transforms lives. There’s also a challenge in this proverb: to slow down enough to value the small steps and see how they contribute to the larger vision. Too often, the focus is on rapid results and immediate gratification. The strongest nests- whether in business, leadership, or ecosystems - are built with patience and care. What twigs are you gathering today? What incremental steps are you taking to strengthen your foundation, your business, or your community? Share your reflections - because the small steps we take today build the big impact of tomorrow. #AfricanProverbs #EcosystemBuilding #LeadershipWisdom #EntrepreneurshipGrowth #PatiencePays #IncrementalProgress #SustainableImpact #AfricanInnovation #GrowthWithPurpose #SmallStepsGreatHeights

I recently completed David Bornstein’s book, “How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas,” and its central themes deeply resonate with my experience as the CEO of The Do More Foundation. These themes encapsulate broader insights on social entrepreneurship and its societal impact: 🔹 Innovation in Problem Solving: We tackle longstanding issues with fresh perspectives, crafting innovative solutions that yield tangible benefits. For instance, our Repurpose for Purpose Programme. 🔹 Empowerment and Capacity Building: Our aim is to create brighter futures for young children and their families by equipping individuals and communities with the necessary tools and knowledge to address their problems and establish a sustainable future. An example is our Eat Love Play Talk programme. 🔹 Systems Change: We strive for systemic transformation, altering structures, policies and operational methods to achieve lasting effects, such as with our Everyone Gets to Play Model. 🔹 Resilience and Perseverance: Despite challenges, we persist with unwavering determination, powered by a steadfast belief in the potential for change. This is exemplified by our focus on our employees and the importance we place on connection. 🔹 Collaboration and Networking: By building networks of supporters, mentors, funders, implementing partners and other partners, we enhance our impact and resource acquisition through our collective impact model. 🔹 Leadership and Vision: Our ambitious vision always prioritises young children and their families, encouraging others to join our vision. I am fortunate to work with a remarkable team of leaders who inspire and mobilise others towards a shared goal, clearly communicating our vision for change. 🔹 Sustainability: We are committed to creating models designed for long-term impact, balancing mission-focused initiatives with sustainable business practices. Our approach focuses not on short-term impacts but on development requiring a long-term vision. Follow The Do More Foundation’s journey to see how we are making a difference. Together, we can create better tomorrow's for the young children and their families. #DoMoreFoundation #SocialChange #Innovation #Empowerment #Sustainability

🎉 Celebrating One Year as Managing Director at SISTAC! 🎉 Today marks a special milestone as we celebrate the anniversary of the Social Impact Start-up Academy (SISTAC). I've had the privilege of being part of this incredible journey since its inception and serving as the Managing Director for the past year. Reflecting on this journey, here are my three key learnings: 1️⃣ Understand Impact as a Business Opportunity: I've learned to see impact not just as a buzzword, but as a genuine business opportunity that drives sustainable success. I figured how it unites people on the mission to make the world a better place while also creating economic value, especially in underpriviledged regions! 2️⃣ Develop an Agile Mindset: Developing and testing new educational formats has taught me the value of agility. Embracing feedback and continuously improving has been crucial. Cultivating agility in our teaching formats is important, however, it becomes even more exciting when agility takes the driver's seat in the subconscious - without having to think about agile anymore! 3️⃣ Developing Resilience and Self-Organization: Navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship, even in a non-profit organization like ours, has strengthened my resilience and honed my ability to stay self-organized. And after all, being kind to myself even though challenges are in front of me is an important part of my learning journey that I'd like to pass on to our students. Thank you to our incredible team, partners, and supporters for making this journey possible. Together, we are shaping the future of social innovation, so Happy Birthday, SISTAC! #SocialImpact #Entrepreneurship #Leadership #AgileMindset #Resilience #Cooperation #SISTAC

Here are some of the highlights from our journey: 🌍 Global Reach: We've supported more than 50 social impact start-ups in Sub-Saharan Africa, connecting them with passionate students and professionals to drive sustainable development. 🤝 Partnerships: Our collaboration with esteemed partners like the Bayer Foundation, Impact Hub Network, Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship and many others has amplified our impact, providing invaluable resources and mentorship to our entrepreneurs. 🎓 Education & Training: Through our innovative action-learning initiatives, we have bridged the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, equipping our participants with the skills needed to thrive in the social entrepreneurship landscape. 💡 Innovation: Our projects have fostered creativity and problem-solving, resulting in numerous successful ventures that address pressing social and environmental challenges. We are immensely proud of what we've achieved together and grateful for the support of our incredible community.
