It is evident that Family Medicine has emerged as a tangible reality and the most effective means of attaining it as a postgraduate qualification among various sub-specialties. Dr. Nasir Sahib and Dr. Fareedha Amin deserve recognition for their collaborative efforts, which have facilitated the establishment of a stronger consensus between the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and the respective medical colleges to incorporate Family Medicine as a compulsory course for final-year students. We anticipate that one day Family Medicine will be recognized as one of the most impactful and prominent medical professions, essential for enhancing the already fragile and vulnerable Primary Healthcare system in our nation. If we aim to fortify our healthcare system, then prioritizing Family Medicine and establishing it as the cornerstone of our healthcare system at the grassroots level is the only viable option. ⚕️ Public Health, Population Health and Community Health... The success of these three is deeply intertwined with our ability as leaders to bring awareness around those 'long-standing and well-documented' inequities that DEI efforts seek to address. 🌎 A 'global' understanding of diversity includes Language Access as a critical component in any program looking to increase equity in patient care and outcomes. For those of us who have seen first hand the impact of not having an interpreter on a healthcare setting, JEDI efforts have a multiplier effect when trying to explain the importance of communicating with patients in a language that they can understand. 📣 Today, as organizations across the country announced their support for DEI initiatives, let's remember that both DEI and Language Access are everyone's responsibility. ❓What role do you play in helping to move the equity needle forward? https://lnkd.in/enge8YDN
"Leading health care and medical associations from across the country today made a statement in support of DEI policies in health care, as a means to help improve the health of our nation. These organizations include the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), American Medical Association (AMA), American Osteopathic Association (AOA), Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS), National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME), and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)." #HealthEquity https://lnkd.in/dQQc2EYy

Sapere was asked to provide a cost-benefit analysis (CBA) for a proposed new medical school at Waikato University, commissioned by the Ministry of Health. This work is part of a larger effort to address the need for more general practitioners (GPs) in rural New Zealand. The analysis, prepared as part of the business case, evaluates options to expand medical training and improve healthcare access in underserved regions. The Ministry of Health's memorandum of understanding with the University of Waikato reflects the significance of this initiative, with the Coalition Agreement requiring a full CBA before further commitments are made. The report highlights the complexities of increasing rural GP coverage. While partially redacted, it’s a key step in this evolving process. This project showcases our expertise in delivering impactful economic insights for critical policy decisions. Hear more from ACT Leader David Seymour, Minister Shane Reti, and Sarah Dalton, from the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists, in recent media coverage: · “We need more doctors” – Support for new Waikato medical school (RNZ, 22 Nov 2024) https://lnkd.in/g7CvMwZP · ACT Leader raises doubts about Waikato medical school (RNZ, 21 Nov 2024) https://lnkd.in/gvM-8kKm #Sapere #generalpractitioners #hospitals #NewZealand #medicalschools https://lnkd.in/gam4kmZW

Consider this dive into critical care medicine whether you are a physician, NP, PA, RN, or a paramedic. Offered by BIDMC in conjunction with Harvard Medical School.
A couple of years ago, I took this course from Harvard University. It was well worth the time and effort. Paramedics, nurses and remote medics can learn a lot from this programme. Sure, much of it was over my head, but I downloaded all the lectures and rewatched them again. Challenge yourself. Be a Better Medic. https://lnkd.in/e9DwUpVY
