Apology Letter from Humans to Dogs Dear Dogs, Greetings and respects, We are writing this letter with a heart full of deep emotions and utmost sincerity, as it is time for us to apologize for all the mistakes and neglects we have shown towards you over the years. Loyal dogs, you who have always been by our side, with endless love and trust, and a heart full of affection, have accompanied us. You have lived with humans since ancient times, always there in both the hard and sweet moments. Throughout history, from guarding homes and farms to accompanying us in hunting and even providing support during wars, you have shown that dogs are not only loyal friends of humans, but also our protectors and unparalleled companions. However, as humans, we have often failed to recognize your true worth. Perhaps at times, we saw you as less than a human, and in some situations, we took advantage of you and placed you in difficult circumstances. While you have always been by our side without expecting anything in return and with a heart full of love, we failed to appreciate your loyalty and patience. You deserve more than being abandoned alone on the streets and in shelters or living under harsh conditions. You deserve more than wandering in the corners of cities and streets in search of food and shelter without proper care. We have often ignored you as beings who need attention and affection. Instead of providing you with a safe and loving home, at times we put you in conditions you did not deserve. Now, we have come to the realization that, with all your loyalty, you are much more than just a pet. You have feelings, a need for love, and a life worthy of respect. You not only have the right to be by our side, but you should also be recognized as a cherished member of our human family. From this moment on, we are committed to changing our behavior. Instead of neglect and mistreatment, we will show you respect, address your needs, and care for you in a safe and loving environment. Instead of keeping you in harsh and difficult conditions, we will have you by our side as our true friends, with compassion and responsibility. We hope that you will accept this apology and allow us to be by your side with a more respectful and humane attitude from now on. With endless love and respect, From Humans #ApologyToDogs #DogsLoyalty #LoveForDogs #AnimalsAreFriends #RespectAnimals

**Introducing the Tiger Creek Angel Tree!** This holiday season, we’re inviting you to help spread Christmas cheer to the amazing animals of Tiger Creek! Throughout each week, we’ll feature an animal (or a group of them!) and a link to a special enrichment item they’d love to have. Enrichment is key to keeping animals mentally and physically stimulated. These activities and toys mimic natural behaviors, encourage curiosity, and promote overall well-being. Your support means so much—not only to us but also to the animals who call Tiger Creek home. **How you can help:** Follow our posts each week, pick an item from the link, and send some love in the form of a new enrichment gift. Our furry, feathery, and scaly friends will thank you with extra purrs, roars, and tail wags! Let’s make this season unforgettable for them. Today's feature animals: Beans , Frank , Sonnet , Tartar Sauce , and Kevin Bacon Their Want: https://a.co/eDLVVS4 Why the goats and pig would love a climbing set Goats are natural climbers, known for their agility and curiosity. Providing a climbing arch and ramp allows them to engage in behaviors they’d naturally display in the wild, like exploring uneven terrain and hopping between elevated spaces. This type of enrichment keeps their muscles strong, improves coordination, and satisfies their playful, inquisitive nature. While pigs aren’t natural climbers like goats, they are highly intelligent and curious animals. A climbing arch and ramp offer new opportunities for exploration, problem-solving, and exercise. They’ll love sniffing around, testing their balance, and finding creative ways to interact with the structure. Plus, it’s a great way for both goats and pigs to bond and share in the fun! #TigerCreek #AnimalEnrichment #WildAboutChristmas

Following on from my post about how dogs sniff and breathe last week, below I use 3 different dog examples to describe how the breathing/sniffing rates alter between size. 📣 Sniff Rates: Chihuahua vs. Spaniel vs. Labrador 📣 The sniff rate of a dog—the number of sniffs per second—can vary slightly by breed, though most dogs typically average 5–10 sniffs per second when actively sniffing. The difference in sniffing rates between breeds like a Chihuahua, Spaniel, and Labrador is often due to their size, nasal structure, and energy levels: 🐶 Chihuahua: 🐶 Being a smaller breed with a smaller nasal cavity, Chihuahuas may have slightly quicker, shallower sniffs. Their smaller olfactory system processes less air volume per sniff, but this doesn’t significantly reduce their ability to detect scents—though they may struggle with tracking scents over long distances. 🐶 Spaniel: 🐶 Spaniels, especially those bred for hunting like the Springer Spaniel, tend to have highly efficient sniffing mechanisms. With their medium-sized nasal structure and energetic nature, they balance sniff rate and scent processing well, making them excellent at identifying scents in complex environments. 🐶 Labrador: 🐶 Labradors, known for their exceptional scent detection abilities, often take slower, deeper sniffs compared to smaller breeds. Their larger nasal cavities allow them to process a greater volume of air per sniff, which enhances their ability to detect faint or distant odours. What becomes clear, is that dog size equates more to the air volume being sniffed, that the quality of the sniff itself. Tomorrow, we'll look at the breeds that are olfactorily challenged, and why. #SniffStuff #Olfaction #Dogs

Why Dogs and Humans Love Each Other More Than Anyone Else: #Bark, #Canine, #dog, #DomesticDog, #MansBestFriend, This is excerpted from TIME How Dogs Think: Inside the Canine Mind, now available at retailers and on Amazon. You speak dog better than you think you do. You may not be fluent; that would require actually being a dog. But if you went to live in a dogs-only world, you’d be pretty good at understanding what they’re saying. You can tell a nervous yip from a menacing growl, a bark that says hello from a bark that says get lost. You can read the body language that says happy, that says sad, that says tired, that says scared, that says Please, please, please play with me right now! Think that’s not a big deal? Then answer this: What does a happy bird look like? A sad lion? You don’t know, but dog talk you get. And as with your first human language, you didn’t even have to try to learn it. You grew up in a world in which dogs are everywhere and simply came to understand them. That, by itself, says something about the bond that humans and dogs share. We live with cats, we work with horses, we hire cows for their milk and chickens for their eggs and pay them with food—unless we kill them and eat them instead. Our lives are entangled with those of other species, but we could disentangle if we wanted. With dogs, things are different. Our world and their world swirled together long ago like two different shades of paint. Once you’ve achieved a commingled orange, you’re never going back to red and yellow. But why is that? It’s not enough to say that the relationship is symbiotic—that dogs hunt for us and herd for us and we keep them warm and fed in return. Sharks and remora fish struck a similarly symbiotic deal, with the remora cleaning parasites from the shark’s skin and getting to help itself to scraps from the shark’s kills as its pay. That underwater deal is entirely transactional; love plays no part. Humans and dogs, by contrast, adore each other. The relationship began—well, nobody knows exactly when it began. The earliest remains of humans and dogs interred together date to 14,000 years ago, but there are some unconfirmed finds that are said to be more than twice as old. The larger point is the meaning of the discoveries: we lived with dogs and then chose to be buried with them. Imagine that. It was only by the tiniest bit of genetic chance that our cross-species union was forged at all. Dogs and wolves share 99.9% of their mitochondrial DNA—the DNA that’s passed down by the mother alone—which makes the two species nearly indistinguishable. But elsewhere in the genome, there are a few genetic scraps that make a powerful difference. On chromosome six in particular, investigators have found three genes that code for hyper-sociability—and they are in the same spot as similar genes linked to similar sweetness in humans. Our ancestors… #Bark #Canine #Dog #DomesticDog #MansBestFriend

Ever wondered why your furry friend has a knack for turning your backyard into a minefield? 🐶 Digging is an instinctual behavior in dogs that can be attributed to several reasons—comfort, hiding treasures, exploring, or simply boredom. Some dig to relieve stress, express nesting instincts, or out of sheer curiosity. Reflecting on my own dog’s antics, I realized that by understanding these motivations, we can better address and manage their digging habits. For instance, creating a designated digging area or providing more engaging activities can work wonders. Does your pup have a favorite digging spot? How have you managed this behavior? Let’s share tips! #dogbehavior #petcare #animallovers #instincts

Why ' DOGS' are Man's best Friend ? . . If you study the history of dogs, you wouldn’t expect them to be thought of as man’s best friend. Dogs trace their lineage back to wolves. Dogs share 99% of their DNA with wolves, who are hardly warm and cuddly creatures. A long time ago, humans domesticated dogs. The goal wasn’t to make pets. Instead, they used dogs mostly for hunting and guarding land. Over time, thoughts toward dogs shifted. Hunting hounds became loyal friends. Guard dogs became friendly companions. The dog became a pet that was loved even if it could not provide services. Today, all you have to do is ask most dog owners and you’ll get a long list of qualities that would make any species proud. Here are just a few of the adjectives you’ll hear used about dogs: loyal, kind, playful, and unconditionally loving. When you’re happy, your dog is ready to help you celebrate. On your worst day, your dog will greet you with a wag of the tail and a lick of the hand. Even when you are grumpy, a dog will look at you with love. When it comes to animals, a dog is man’s best friend. They have a blend of qualities that other species simply don't have. #StreetPhotogaphy #Nature #Dogs #ShotoniPhone15 #iPhonePhotography #AnimalLover #creativity #socialmedia #careers #socialexperiments #innovation #animallover #creativepictures #dogs

Dogs and Shit 👀 The Mystery Behind My Dog’s Love for Gross Smells --- I have a dog, and time and again, I’m both surprised and fascinated by all the antics he performs. Chasing wall lizards, butterflies, and mice is a daily thing. Picking fights with dogs twice his size is another example of how *brave* (but let's be honest, a little *stupid*) he is when taking risks. These risks just aren’t as calculated as the ones I take—but hopefully, he’ll get there soon! One of the most interesting (and weird) things I’ve observed about him—and not just him, but dogs in general—is their sense of smell. By now, you’ve probably heard stories about how strong their noses are, but let me share an equally fascinating (and somewhat disgusting) observation about their idea of smell. Dogs *love* foul smells. The stinkiest odors you can imagine—the kind that would not only burn your nostril hair but might even knock someone unconscious—are like catnip to them. Time and again, I’ve seen dogs rubbing their entire body against a dead animal! Yeah, sorry if you didn’t know, but it’s true. I always wondered why they do that, until recently when I found out the reason. Dogs are descendants of wolves, and wolves were natural hunters. Hunting for them was exciting, but it was also a necessity for survival. To successfully hunt live prey, wolves needed to mask their scent so that their prey wouldn’t catch wind of them. They’d often rub their bodies against strong odors—like dead animals—to disguise their natural smell, making it easier to hunt. That’s why dogs still do it today, even though they don’t need to hunt. Isn’t nature insane? This special trait applies to other odors too! So the next time you see them sniffing something *questionable*, whether it’s another dog’s poop, your butt, or another dog’s butt, just know that it’s all part of their ancient instincts. I made a small comic about this—I hope you enjoyed reading it! 👀😂 ---
