I’m reaching out because I’m in a bit of a pickle with one of my new employees, and I’d really love to hear your thoughts. I hired a 29-year-old assistant in November, and while most of my team has been with me for years, she’s the new kid on the block. To be honest, I’ve had some trust issues with her, which is unusual for me. 🤔 Recently, she told me that her mom has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, and she needs some time off this week to support her family. I want to be empathetic—if she’s really going through something tough, I want to be there for her. But I’m also feeling uneasy since I’ve already sensed some dubious behavior on her part. Here are my main pain points: Trust Issues: It’s hard to know if she’s being honest or just seeking more time off.
