D3HUB - EU Competence Centre to support data management in tourism destinations will build the future Competence Centre with the support of all tourism actors from all Member States. We're now in the process to build a sound Support Scheme addressed to #smartdestinations and their ecosystems to generate capacity building, training, expertise and digital solutions to improve the use and management of data to take better decisions and increase the competeitiveness of territories and business. 💡 Foresight instead of Forecast 💡 Exploring the Future of Tourism: Insights from Monika Volgyi’s NIT - NEST Innovation Talks Session The latest NIT session, held at the Campus da Escola de Turismo do Estoril, delved into the Megatrends Impacting Tourism, presented by Monika Volgyi, Advisor and Course Coordinator at the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies. Monika's presentation was not just informative but also transformative. She emphasized the importance of foresight over forecasting, guiding attendees through methodologies that enable businesses to envision and prepare for future scenarios. Her talk highlighted the significance of understanding and adapting to megatrends—the large-scale shifts that shape our world. 🐘 Among the fascinating concepts discussed were black elephants, black swans, and black jellyfish — metaphors for unexpected events that can have significant impacts on the tourism sector. These terms remind us that while we can anticipate trends, we must also be ready for the unforeseen. 🎂 It was a memorable day, not just for an enlightening talk, but also because it was her birthday!
