These types of data storage were crucial for both system recovery and data backup of critical operations. While often predicted to phase out, these devices, particularly tape storage technology, continue to be relied upon for their durability and offline security. However, as you can imagine, when new technology emerges and standardizes, this type of hardware is difficult to support and integrate.
