Listen to Jill as she reflects on her first job and the Aha moment that sparked a lifelong commitment to advocating for individuals with disabilities. Accommodations truly play a huge role in the magical ability of many people with disabilities to participate in the workforce. #Inclusion #DisabilityInclusion @SAP

Im reminded on #DisabilityPrideMonth that society is at completely different stages with regards to acceptance of disability in business. Businesses may well have inclusive policies, but if they don't have the enablers and controls in place to ensure that disabled people are being given the best chance of success, they may as well not bother. An opinion reflected in multiple court rulings recently. Recent rulings suggest that the courts are getting mildly frustrated that so many significant employers still do not have the right support in place to help disabled people and those who provide support. Recently documented actions of individuals suggests that knowledge and understanding of the requirements and potential also the potential consequences of not adhering to the Equality Act 2010 are not fully understood or simply being ignored. The courts are now at bursting point and are relying more and more on ACAS to attempt to keep cases out of the courtroom. A lack of understanding of the requirements exposes disabled people to conduct that can exacerbate a condition with a protected characteristic, where protection of career and brand can at times become more important than adhering to the law. On this year's #Disabilitypridemonth I am hopeful that businesses and individuals will take things seriously to make work a realistic option for those who desperately want to contribute to society and maintain a strong #mentalhealth I hope you will all take some time out to learn what Disability Pride Month means and appreciate that it could well be you one day. https://lnkd.in/egjwqMmP #Disabled #EqualityAct #Pride #Red #Equality

#WhatWeLearned How to Implement Disability Inclusion: Best Practices from Industry Leaders At this week’s Midday Connect, Dr. Kirk Adams PhD Adams gave valuable insights on how businesses can successfully implement disability inclusion. His advice is backed by real-life examples from companies that have embraced diversity and reaped the rewards. ✅ Learning from Industry Leaders Over 500 companies in the Disability:IN network have already committed to building inclusive workplaces. Following their lead by integrating disability-inclusive practices can give your business a competitive edge. ✅ Corporate Best Practices Start by conducting informational interviews with experts in disability inclusion or connecting with organizations that have successfully implemented these strategies. This can help you understand how to tailor inclusive practices to your company’s needs. ✅ Utilize Government Support Many employers are unaware of the help available from vocational rehabilitation programs, which not only provide pre-screened candidates but also cover costs for accommodations. This makes it easier and more cost-effective to bring in talented individuals with disabilities. 💡 Actionable Step: Explore government programs like Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) that offer pre-screened candidates and workplace assessments to ensure your company is equipped to support employees with disabilities.
