The Second Meeting of the Regional Collective for Participatory Research in Agroecology in Latin America and the Caribbean(IPA-LAC) took place in June 2024 in Cuba to learn about the participatory research on food system governance carried out by Cuban partners, exchange experiences, and make progress in defining metrics to verify the results of the IPA-LAC initiatives, which will be completed in the first half of 2025. Thinking about which plant events to attend in 2025? 🤔 Make use of The Global Plant Events Calendar, a joint initiative of Agrisera and Plantae/ASPB, that lists hundreds of worldwide plant and algal cell biology events each year. 🌱 The calendar has been online since January 2019, and thus celebrates its 6th anniversary! 🎉 "The calendar is about inclusion, education and quality. We promote smaller, local meetings along with the big, popular ones," says Agrisera's Technical Support Manager, Dr. Joanna Porankiewicz-Asplund, in an interview conducted by ASPB last year. In December, the principal investigator of the PhytoPFAS project visited the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences and held a meeting in Budapest with Dr. Zoltan Kovacs, Head of Research Strategy of MATE, International Affairs Advisor of the Institute of Food Science and Technology, and Full Professor at the Department of Food Measurements and Process Control. Their discussion focused on the application of aquaphotomics for analyzing the impact of PFAS molecules on the molecular structure and conformation of water. Although this was their first official meeting, both had spent several years in Japan in the past, where they became acquainted with this novel omics technique developed in the laboratory of Professor Roumiana Tsenkova at Kobe University. #fondzanauku #phytopfas #zeleniprogram PhytoPFAS project is supported by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, Grant No 6684.

Celebrating 20 years, the Australasian Dairy Science Symposium (ADSS) conference is being held in Christchurch this week. This conference brings together dairy scientists from Australia and New Zealand with this year's theme reflecting on timeless practices, re-invention and future thinking in the Australasian Dairy Industry. While we reflect on two decades of impact, we will hear from four early career researchers entered into the 'ADSS Emerging Scientist Award' competition. DairyNZ’s Dr Lucy Hall, Dr Konagh Garrett, Dr Stacey Hendriks, and Dr Charlotte Reed will present research spanning the impact of farm factors on dairy farmer’s sleep, using on-animal sensors to predict pasture covers, insights on methane emissions under different nutritional strategies, and linking milk urea levels to risks for animal and environmental impacts. https://lnkd.in/gKfFjEUe
