Ahead of the General Election on the 4th of July, it is crucial that the needs of babies, children and young people are prioritised. They deserve safer, happier and healthier childhoods and more equal access to opportunities. All political leaders must now use their manifestos to set out plans to tackle child poverty, provide more support for young people’s mental health and wellbeing, and invest in children’s social care. We have a crucial opportunity to put children's concerns and experiences at the centre of decision making – to bring children to the table. We look forward to working with political parties as they harness this opportunity. We also call on party leaders to take the ground-breaking step of participating in a televised debate focussed on children and young people. What better way to show that they value children and young people than to include them in these key conversations? Let's have Children at the Table in transforming their lives. Barnardo's Action for Children - Paul Carberry National Children's Bureau - Anna Feuchtwang NSPCC - Sir Peter Wanless The Children's Society - Mark Russell 🇺🇦

We are sharing this resource that has been developed by NACCOM in partnership with Hope not hate, Asylum Matters, Right to Remain, Praxis and IMIX. The guide pulls together some basic principles/ considerations for organisations and community groups to guide their thinking when making decisions about how to keep staff, volunteers and the people they are working with feeling safe and supported. It also offers our solidarity with the people who are most affected by far-right violence as we stand together as one community. This is not an exhaustive guide, and it will be updated as best practice continues to be developed. It is hosted on Hope not Hate's website at https://lnkd.in/egKC98Vq (you have to register to request access). NACCOM are happy to have feedback on what can be included/updated/added, etc. Hope it's useful as a sense check for you all in these difficult times.

262 days with ZERO SAFE HAVE ACCESS for ALL youth in Ocean and Monmouth County, NJ (approx 162,813 10 to 19 year-olds without any local help). Newark is the ONLY option for youth under 18 - for many in Ocean County, this city is over an hour away. It DEMANDS YOUTH LEAVE their self-made support networks made up of peers, teachers and coaches. It FORCES YOUNG PEOPLE to leave their communities. And it INSISTS URBAN CITIES foot the bill for suburban youth. This is NOT the way evidence shows is best for addressing the mental, emotional, and behavioral needs of youth and families in need of support services. Youth have a FEDERAL RIGHT to runaway and stay safe. If we deny them local safe refuge, they are more at-risk of human and CHILD TRAFFICKING, offering SURVIVAL SEX, and a litany of negative outcomes. Help CLCL Foundation RESTORE SANCTUARY ACCESS and expand preventative services to thwart runaway and homeless youth. There is an evidence-based, trauma-informed, antiracist and inclusive way to provide services. Problems have SOLUTIONS - only TOGETHER can we have the wisdom and power to make the difference. Access to justice, especially for those most vulnerable, is central to a lawyer’s professional calling. For more than 50 years, with annual ABE grants made possible through donated dividends from ABE insureds, the ABA Fund for Justice and Education has helped provide lawyers with opportunities to improve the justice system, their profession, and our communities. The FJE represents a wide range of ABA service programs focused on children and family rights, homelessness, immigration, public education, international justice, and much more. The unifying purpose is to help ensure equal access to justice for all individuals in America and around the world. https://lnkd.in/gHfwHa3m

The more I think about what has happened to me, the angrier I get. Who gets to decide my fate? Who gets to decide how the law is applied? So I have this to say to ‘The Panel’ that turned me down this week and all the other non-transparent and under-represented panels that decide our futures. Dear Panel, You recently had a decision to make. Yes or no to my much needed funding. You said no. Who are you panel? A diverse group of people including representatives from the disabled community, young people and people with lived experience? My feeling is, perhaps not. What information were you given? A full a thorough explanation of my needs, wishes and goals? What time did you have to consider my case? Enough to read all of the relevant information submitted? Erm, no. What understanding do you have of local policies, the law and how it works in practise? Can you honestly say your decisions are based on lawful arguments? Or, are you just worried about ‘setting a precedent’ or ‘opening floodgates’. If you give it to me, they’ll all want it, right? Think about that one. What chance did I get to represent myself? None. What reasons did you give for turning me down? None. Regards, Sam Can you see my point? My GoFundMe campaign is my only way to level this playing field until I can #GetTheCogsTurning and work on fixing this broken system. Please, please let’s get this further and wider. I promise to give it all back in spades in my fight to make things better for all disabled young people. https://gofund.me/96ffc80f Hey there! I'm reaching out to share an important cause—#GetSamToCollege. Sam needs our help to fund the necessary support to attend college despite facing severe physical and communication difficulties.
