Recently, AWG Cares provided a grant in the amount of $3,000 to Spirit Lake Protective Association (SLPA) in Spirit Lake, IA. The grant request was submitted by Dan Koolstra, AWG Nebraska Division Support Center employee. The Spirit Lake Protective Association’s motto and simplified mission statement is "Quality of Water, Quality of Life." Dan is a member of the Association and volunteers with them as time allows. Two of their main goals are water quality and conservation. This organization strives to keep the local history of the Iowa Great Lakes area intact, while being proactive to utilize conservation practices to protect the water quality. With the recent flooding this year occurring in and around Dickinson County, water quality is a huge concern. Due to the rising waters, the local sanitary departments were forced to release waste water into the local lakes, which created issues with water quality. The SLPA helps to physically and financially mitigate these issues from going from bad to worse. The SLPA works in conjunction with all local municipalities to ensure quality water in the local area. With the flooding in the area, water is a commodity that cannot be compromised for the health and safety of the area. Thank you, Dan, for donating to AWG Cares and submitting this grant request! Anyone can donate to AWG Cares, not just AWG employees. To learn how to donate to AWG Cares, please visit: https://lnkd.in/g7Xg4nza

Water For Peace 2024 This month instead of dropping out gifts to our clients we handed out bottles of water and donated to Water.org. www. water.org Here are four things you can do on World Water Day; Give Up Some Water Yourself You can put yourself in the shoes of others – and learn to appreciate the water sources you have – by using March 22 as a day to live with as little water as possible. Look Into How You Can Conserve Water at Home Use March 22 to look around your home and see where you can begin saving water. Water – Use It Wisely has plenty of great suggestions, including running fewer and fuller loads of laundry and dishes, reusing your linens and towels instead of always using fresh ones, or even taking a “Navy-style” shower. For those of you that can why not look into rainwater harvesting with companies like Stormsaver Ltd Educate Yourself With Water Documentaries We’re fortunate enough to have access to a number of interesting and educational documentaries about water. FLOW, Tapped (which goes into detail about the impact of bottled water on the environment), and Blue Gold: World Water Wars. These documentaries highlight the environmental and political costs of clean water worldwide. Donate Giving money may not be the most original solution, but it’s one of the most effective. A report from WaterAid found that one in five babies born in the developing world dies during its first month of life because of a lack of clean water. Donating funds to Water.org ensures that clean, safe water can be provided to countries where it’s needed the most.

Another gem from Jeff, shining a spotlight on Kevin's wisdom - in every communication, in every message or phrase, ask yourself: "why will a donor care about this". Good #fundraisers get it. But if your message focuses on the "what" instead of the "why"; if terms like "mission" are confused with "vision" and "purpose"—remind your non-fundraising colleagues to focus on why your charity exists. The problem to be solved is the Emotional Tension that donors share with your organisation. This is the fundamental insight to forming meaningful connections with supporters—and where every conversation should begin. The Wirral Barn Owl Trust, founded in 1999, works to protect the declining barn owl population on the Wirral peninsula. After rising to 42 pairs by 2012, numbers have fallen again to 13 pairs, threatened by habitat loss and severe weather. Relying solely on donations, the Trust’s conservation efforts include installing nest boxes, monitoring owl activity, collaborating with farmers, and educating the public to secure a sustainable future for these iconic birds. In the latest round of Grants for Good, Wirral Barn Owl Trust has been granted £3,500 from John Good Group | Growing Businesses Together to help the charity with their current goal of replacing 25 damaged nest boxes with weather-resistant, eco-friendly boxes. What does having clean water mean to a student, a school, and a community? In our latest film, hear their voices as they share the life-changing impact of clean water: • Girls no longer have to miss school because they now have access to hygiene and menstrual health support. • Water-related illnesses, once a daily fear, have nearly disappeared. • Crops are thriving, livelihoods are growing, and families are hopeful. • Entire communities see opportunities they never thought possible. • With proper maintenance, clean water systems no longer break down, ensuring this gift endures for generations. At MissionCleanWater, we realized something had to change. Traditional approaches weren’t working—projects often failed within a year due to poor materials, insufficient structures, and lack of communication. That’s why we took a new approach: combining community-led ownership with professional management and routine monitoring to ensure clean water systems thrive. Now, with the support of the Ugandan government, we’re expanding into 2025 to bring clean water to 50 communities—impacting 50,000 people and 10,000 students through piped water projects and well repairs. Here’s what every community will receive: • Year-round, flowing clean water. • Monthly monitoring and preventative maintenance. • Rapid response to fix any issues. This is more than water. It’s dignity, opportunity, and hope for a better future. This holiday season, you can be part of this change. Donate in honor of Chris Roma’s legacy and help us raise $20,000 to transform even more lives.
