With this in mind, the APDR has created 3 "Rotation Guides" for the most common rotations that programs provide to their residents - one for the resident's first rotation, one for the resident's second rotation, and one for the resident's third rotation. These guides contain a prioritized list of top goals and objectives with the associated core competency areas parenthetically indicated at the end of each one. Radiology residents often ask their peers, more senior residents, fellows, and faculty for guidance on how to prepare for rotations and what resources are considered most high yield for improving medical knowledge and understanding while on rotation. With this in mind, the APDR has created 3 "Rotation Guides" for the most common rotations that programs provide to their residents - one for the resident's first rotation, one for the resident's second rotation, and one for the resident's third rotation (R2 and R3 guides coming soon). These guides contain a prioritized list of top goals and objectives with the associated core competency areas parenthetically indicated at the end of each one. These guides also contain recommended targets for case volumes, suggested reading material and videos for each week on rotation, mid-rotation and end-of-rotation feedback sections, and a "must-see diagnosis" checklist. Given that radiology residency programs significantly vary from one another, these guides are presented as MS Word documents with the intention that they will be downloaded and adjusted by individual programs to meet the unique circumstances and needs of their programs. We also intentionally made them as short as possible while striving to maintain comprehensiveness. We aim to review these every two years in order to ensure up to date content. We hope you find these helpful. https://lnkd.in/gjCDZzct #RadPD #RadEd #RadRes #RadPCs

Attention all cardiology professionals! Are you using specialty coders in your CV programs? Shockingly, many programs are not utilizing these coders, even in the face of dwindling reimbursements. However, it's crucial to invest in these coders to ensure accurate billing. This investment will pay off multiple times over. #cardiology #coding #reimbursement

Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor.studio. I think Coauthor.studio did quite a good job on this: 25 Impella CP implantations. But numbers never tell the whole story. Every single one of those 25 cases represented a moment where technology, skill, and human resilience converged to give someone a second chance. Take the 78-year-old patient with an ejection fraction of just 15% - a case that would have been unthinkable to treat just years ago. With our Impella support, we transformed what could have been a terminal situation into a potential recovery. 2024 wasn't just about counting procedures. It was about expanding the boundaries of what's possible in interventional cardiology. We didn't just add rotablation to our toolkit - we learned how to wield it with precision. My first rotablation cases with Thomas Schmitz and Simon Voelke weren't just technical exercises; they were lessons in collaborative expertise. Three moments that really captured our journey: 1. Impella Milestone: Our mechanical circulatory support program reached a significant milestone. "Another big step in our MCS program. We just implanted the 25th Impella CP from Abiomed 🎉 That's 25 implantations in less than 2 years in our clinic." https://lnkd.in/eaM7qcJK 2. Complex PCI Learning: Understanding that advanced techniques require continuous learning. "If you want to perform complex PCI, you need the right tools in your arsenal, and one tool you can't avoid is rotational atherectomy." https://lnkd.in/ed4v7k9P 3. Detailed Intervention: Showcasing the intricate decisions in coronary care. "Single stent (4.0mm) at ostial LAD with very little protrusion in LMS and Cx ostium. IVUS before lesion preparation and after stent implantation." https://lnkd.in/eyEtR49E Looking ahead to 2025, our focus remains crystal clear: push the boundaries of what's medically possible, train the next generation of interventionalists, and never stop asking, "How can we do this better?" Immense gratitude to our exceptional team at Marienhaus-Gruppe Krankenhaus Hetzelstift In medicine, no breakthrough is ever achieved alone. What challenging cases are you seeing that are pushing your professional boundaries? #InterventionalCardiology #ComplexPCI #MCS #Impella #LinkedInRewind #Coauthor #2024wrapped

The number of #POCUS exams recommended to achieve competency and for credentialing has been 25-50 per exam type. This number was established based on consensus, but has little data supporting it. In reality, the number of exams required should vary by exam type. Some exams, like cardiac #POCUS are harder to learn and may require more exams, whereas lung #POCUS is easier to learn and may require less. This is the basis of competency based medical education that is frequently talked about today. This concept is the basis of this great paper by Ahmad Bakhribah that I was privileged to be a part of. How many exams are necessary for emergency medicine residents to achieve competency in the FAST exam? Check it out! https://lnkd.in/gPZhbynk

The stethoscope took at least three decades to become standard medical practice in the mid-1800s. Today, point-of-care ultrasound is making a similar transformation in medicine, in an era where technological adoption moves at a much faster pace. For family medicine practitioners, the 2024 ACGME program requirements include diagnostic imaging experience for residents, reflecting ultrasound's essential role in modern primary care. Now, handheld devices are transforming everything from MSK to cardiac care. Real-world adoption is accelerating residency evolution. By the time they begin practicing, they will naturally expect ultrasound to be an integral part of their day-to-day clinical practice." Kosmos ultrasound devices are designed to grow with ultrasound learners as their skills develop. With helpful AI and cart-benchmarked image quality and capabilities, it is a tool you can use from your first scans in residency through your practice as a primary provider.
