Union Health Secretary Shri Apurva Chandra has written to States/UTs clarifying that all existing DH/RHs that are being converted into Medical Colleges will continue their roles and obligations under the National Health Mission (NHM) and will continue to receive funding support from the Center under NHM. This is in response to demands made by some States/UTs for the construction of additional District/Referral hospitals (DH/RH) due to concerns that the existing DH/RH which are being converted into Medical Colleges will cease receiving funding from NHM. During the previous nine years, there have been persistent efforts to increase the number of medical colleges. Currently, there are 706 medical colleges in the nation. The number of medical colleges that have been established has increased by 82% since 2014, with 319 new medical institutions (including private medical colleges) introduced in the past nine years. With increased emphasis and funding for professional education and excellence, India's network of medical schools has grown multiple times over. The goal has been to solve the issue of accessibility and reach the underprivileged areas. Improving the doctor-to-patient ratio has been a continuous global effort to provide improved access to healthcare services. #NHM #Funding #Districthospitals #medicalcollege MedBound Times Read the full article here- https://lnkd.in/gjCw4Crx

WHY NURSES ARE KEY TO MEDICAL INNOVATION Nurses represent the front line of health care -- from first breaths to last moments, and everything in between. But there's a vital place nurses are missing in action, says Ben Gran. He makes a compelling case for integrating their invaluable insights and experience into health tech innovation to help make care (and the process of providing it) better for generations to come.

Important long term trends here to understand how/why rural primary care provision is changing
🤔 Would you like to understand what is happening to general practice in England? Take a look 👀 at our paper in BMJ Open: https://lnkd.in/e5yu4iXm ⭐ 'The changing shape of English general practice' ⭐ We examined trends in general practice structure, workforce and appointments between 2013 and 2023 and found... Structure 🏥 👉 20% ⬇ in general practices from 8044 to 6419 👉 40% ⬆ in average list size from 6967 to 9724 patients (with more 'mega-providers') 👉 Proportion under individual ownership ⬇ from 13% to 11% 👉 Proportion owned by partnerships, incorporated companies or NHS bodies, respectively averaged around 80.3%, 6.9% and 0.7%. Workforce ⚕ 👉 20% ⬆ in the combined FTE total general practice and primary care network workforce per 1000 patients 👉 Driven by a rise in administrative staff and other direct patient care (DPC) roles e.g. pharmacists, physician associates, social prescribers etc.. 👉 15% ⬇ in FTE qualified GPs per 1000 patients 👉 Stable nurse numbers 👉 Administrative roles represent 51% of the workforce 🖥 👉 GPs and other DPC roles each represented 19% of the FTE workforce in September 2022 (since then FTE DPC roles > qualified GPs see The Health Foundation General Practice Data Dashboard https://lnkd.in/ejAp_TDD) 👉 Workforce mostly female♀ 👉 1 in 4 GPs awarded their primary medical qualification overseas 🌏 Appointments 📖 👉 We were at a tipping ⚖ point in early 2023 when around half of appointments were still provided by GPs (since then this is no longer been the case see NHS England GP appointment data https://lnkd.in/emd-KECx) 🏡 Take home messages 🚩 Although GP trainee numbers are rising, we need to prioritise GP retention. 🚩 The role of the GP partner is evolving, from a self-managing owner of a small business to holding responsibility for the governance of a much larger organisation and multidisciplinary team. 🚩 General practice in England appears to be in a period of transition, however, patients are struggling to get appointments; concerns have been raised regarding the safety of introducing new roles without adequate supervision; and we are currently facing the lowest ever levels of public satisfaction with general practice recorded. 🚩 We recommend that the impacts of the changes on access, quality and costs are closely monitored. 🤔 If you are interested in more please take a look at the discussion and supplementary tables and figures too! Seeking GP Practice Managers! Are you involved with decision-making about the adoption of digital technologies at your clinic? We are interested in understanding the types of digital technologies you use in your GP practice, how decisions were made to use them at your clinic and how you evaluate them. This study involves completing an online survey, and if interested, an interview with one of our researchers from The University of Queensland. Those who complete the survey can opt to receive a benchmarking report about their clinic. Our overall goal is to determine how to enhance primary healthcare services to be more efficient and person-centred using digital technologies. This research is being conducted with funding from the Australian Research Council, Australian Association of Practice Management (AAPM), the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) and Inala Primary Care. Don’t miss this chance to make a difference to the future of primary care. Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) AAPM Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/gH9G9A5S

An excellent opportunity has arisen for anyone designing, researching, or teaching about #HealthCare #Environments that consider full-time hospital occupants critical to care--#Nurses. It's a call for proposals relating to the #NurseStationOfTheFuture (https://lnkd.in/dWz2CU75) and would be great for practitioners or educators (seeking ideas for studios) alike. While this competition focuses more on calling for proposals relating to #Hospital #NurseStations as the #CommandAndControl centers of hospitals, considering physical and digital elements with #StateOfTheArt accommodations for #ModelsOfHealth, it could inherently consider the #health of the #nurses themselves too. I've been lucky enough to be on #HealthcareDesign teams over the past few years (having been a #patient, #caregiver, and #designer in a variety of #global #hospitals and #MedicalCenters) that have considered #PatientExperience in the context of #MedicalStaffExperience. This is key because, if medical staff are having their needs and wants met by design and working in environments that support these, they're likely to do their jobs better...thereby benefitting them individually as well as their colleagues and patients. It's such an important perspective to account for, and I'm thrilled to see competitions... 1) uplifting this often less recognized but incredibly important #occupant group, 2) highlighting what #GoodDesign can do for a user group's happiness and productivity, and 3) identifying kind of impact #IntentionalDesign can have on workplace function (in this case, promoting #health, #healing, and #care). Best of luck to the competitors. #HospitalDesign #HealthcareEnvironments #Architecture #SpatialDesign #NursingStations #NurseStations #DesignFuturing
📣Call for Design! 📣ARC Innovation International Healthcare Design Competition: The Nurse Station of the Future. Open to professionals and students around the globe the HealthSpace 2030 International Healthcare Design Competition aims to explore visionary designs for the Nurse Station of the Future. The proposal should represent the 'State-of-the-Art' in healthcare design with creative visions for the future. The design proposal can relate to a specific context of an inpatient medical unit at a hospital or to a conceptualized context of futuristic medical environments. Sapere was asked to provide a cost-benefit analysis (CBA) for a proposed new medical school at Waikato University, commissioned by the Ministry of Health. This work is part of a larger effort to address the need for more general practitioners (GPs) in rural New Zealand. The analysis, prepared as part of the business case, evaluates options to expand medical training and improve healthcare access in underserved regions. The Ministry of Health's memorandum of understanding with the University of Waikato reflects the significance of this initiative, with the Coalition Agreement requiring a full CBA before further commitments are made. The report highlights the complexities of increasing rural GP coverage. While partially redacted, it’s a key step in this evolving process. This project showcases our expertise in delivering impactful economic insights for critical policy decisions. Hear more from ACT Leader David Seymour, Minister Shane Reti, and Sarah Dalton, from the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists, in recent media coverage: · “We need more doctors” – Support for new Waikato medical school (RNZ, 22 Nov 2024) https://lnkd.in/g7CvMwZP · ACT Leader raises doubts about Waikato medical school (RNZ, 21 Nov 2024) https://lnkd.in/gvM-8kKm #Sapere #generalpractitioners #hospitals #NewZealand #medicalschools https://lnkd.in/gam4kmZW
