The coefficient of heat transfer (often denoted as h) is indeed influenced by the thermal conductivity of the fluid and the thermal boundary layer thickness. The relationship can be expressed as: h∝k/δh where: h is the convective heat transfer coefficient, k is the thermal conductivity of the fluid, δ\deltaδ is the thermal boundary layer thickness. This relationship implies that the heat transfer coefficient increases with the higher thermal conductivity of the fluid and decreases with a thicker thermal boundary layer. #shell and tube heat exchanger design#

A common design mistake: Location of check valve Here is a practical example, helping to better understand the mistake and learn from it. Process Description: The gas shall be preheated. In this regard, a preheater is used. To control the outlet temperature, quench water is added when needed. Problem: There is the possibility that the gas might go in reverse direction and pollute the BFW system. Cause: Lack of experience or abundance of work Effect: Pollution in BFW system Solution: Instead of adding check valve in such location, put the check valve after the branch.
