** Merry Christmas from the Front 2024 ** Dear All May I start as ever by wishing you the merriest of Christmases. As before and as ever, I truly wish we could have celebrated this time with you. Christmas was special in Simpsons, a shared joy we experienced as people came together for perhaps the first time in some time, raising toasts and sharing memories, spilling happiness and singing songs. With centuries of trading, came centuries of traditions that formed around us, traditions that link our time and memories and bring them into today This is the 3rd year in a row that the lights are out here and not a drop has been drunk in celebration. Darkness fills rooms once alive, and the cold takes over the once steamy windows. It really has become the Melancholy Tavern #Dickens once wrote about and the #cityoflondon is diminished by this corpse in its centre 3 Christmases in a 300 year #History may seem like nothing, but it feels an eternity and there is yet more to come as we continue our fight to ensure the unlawful actions Hartnell Taylor Crooks cannot keep extinguished this piece of our shared #London #heritage The fight is now legally contentious, and we are having to appeal again a winding up that sought to deliberately curtail our legitimate counter claim against Tavor Holdings, the unaccountable #offshore entity behind all this. They hope to make us Bankrupt before our case against them is heard We should have resolved this by now, our claim against them was to be listed in July '24 for a 4 day hearing. Instead, we are having to contest the Winding up in appeal and only once that is correctly adjusted again, can we restart our stayed case against them. This would likely mean our litigation would not be heard until 2026 and another year without carols ringing through our corridors. Another year without the unique history of English dining #tradition being sliced up and served authentically All the while this occurs, Simpsons sits dormant and the Landlord ignores our calls to engage in a freehold sale and refuses mediation. They want to sell, we want to buy, the restaurant was profitable, well liked (by most) and the freehold is an asset with some value - there is a win for all sides here We fail to see to what end they refuse and what agenda is served here, beyond cutting the #authentic through line of history that Simpsons allows. Perhaps it’s in service of a childish ego bruised. We cannot say. I do not believe that professional #comercialproperty agents would act like this without agenda, but again, we cannot say and for as long as the agents of Tavor holdings shield the true perpetrators of this, we will never be able to say why they chose to choke off this piece of history What we can say is this: We will not give up on Simpsons and allow our history to die.
