I love going back to my alma matter Vanderbilt University Law School to recruit some of the the best law students in the country! A couple of words of wisdom that I share with current Vandy law students: 1. Make time to know your classmates. Law school is tough, but say yes to Bar Review, Blackacre, intramurals, and the tailgates. Our law school class is small for a reason. I love that my co-counsel for a major DOJ investigation I recently handled were the guys I played softball and went to Bar Review with. 2. Learn the Saturday night set list for the Stage/Winners/Tin Roof. It's a lot more fun to hit the honky tonks when you can sing along! 3. Remember your legal career isn't linear and there are different paths to achieve your goals.

I have a confession to make. And it may cause me to lose "cool points", but I have to come out with it... I'm a #Swiftie and have been for quite some time. 🎶 I absolutely love Taylor Swift and all of her music. ❤️ It would be easy to blame it on my 12-yr old daughter but if I'm honest, I was the one who introduced her to Taylor's music, so really it’s on me. 🙈 Anyways, why am I telling you this? A few months ago, Vivek Jayaram posted about a course he was teaching at the University of Miami Law School, called "Blank Space: IP Law through the lens of Taylor Swift's career" - I'm not going to lie, I was super jealous - two things I love - Taylor and IP law combined!! 🤩 Then last week, Vivek posted that he had recorded an online version of the course and that it was available for sale on his website! 🖥️ I immediately bought it and am thoroughly enjoying it! 🎉 For all you lawyers out there remotely interested in IP law - who are also secret Swifties on the side (you know who you are) - I highly recommend this course! Honored that the Boston College Law Review will publish my forthcoming law review article with Marc Edelman and John Holden titled, "(Still) Anticompetitive College Sports." Our article is on how the settlement for House v. NCAA—despite what you may hear—won't be a panacea to legal problems facing the NCAA and its treatment of college athletes.
