Why the 2025 Wildebeest Calving Season in the Ndutu Area should be on your bucketlist? From January to April, the vast savannas of Ndutu Area come alive as an estimated 500,000 wildebeest calves are born within just a few weeks. Here's why this breathtaking event is a must-see; 🔸The Circle of life: as newborns take their first step they face the challenges of survival. 🔸Predator-Prey Actions: due to concentration of vulnerable young calves more predators are attracted, creating a dramatic scene of survival. 🔸Panoramic Landscape: at this time, the open grasslands, skies and the contrast of new life against the earthy tones of the savannah create a backdrop for the unfolding drama. 🔸Limited Time-Frame: The season is a short-lived but epic in scale. Don’t miss your chance to witness this thrill of nature up-close and personal! 📩booking@lomotanzaniasafari.com . . #lomotanzaniasafari #calvingseason2025 #linkedin #adventuretime #naturelovers

Quiet Sunset with a Hippo and the Elephant Herd 🦛🐘 https://lnkd.in/dV8zqTYv The hippopotamus (Greek for 'river horse') is a strong animal that spends most of its days in water to keep cool and protect its sensitive skin. Herbivores by nature, hippos move onto land at night to graze on grass. While they may be solitary at times, they are often found sharing waterholes with large pods of their own kind. The interactions between elephants and hippos are intriguing. Though they may tolerate each other, hippos can display territorial behaviour in the water, while elephants, being larger and more powerful, usually stand their ground. While interactions can be tense, these two iconic species generally coexist peacefully. In many traditional African cultures, elephant dung has practical uses beyond its natural role in the ecosystem. The carers offer insights into how elephant dung is used to help with ailments, such as labour pains and nosebleeds. Additionally, dung serves as a natural fertiliser for crops, and some communities even use it to create building materials. #everyelephantneedsaherd

🌟 Exploring the Untold Story of My Hometown: RAMINKURA 🌟 Ever wondered about the untold tales of our ancestors' interactions with wildlife? Allow me to take you on a journey through the history of my hometown, Raminkura. Named "den of hyena," Raminkura was once a place where humans and hyenas coexisted in harmony. Yes, you heard that right! Hyenas would grace our doorsteps, and instead of fear, we greeted them with food. Surprisingly, they dined without harming us, our children, pets, or plants. Our bond with these wild creatures went beyond mere encounters. We'd bring food to their dens, especially during times of need, like when they gave birth and couldn't hunt. It was a beautiful symbiotic relationship built on trust and mutual respect. However, as our population grew, the landscape changed. Our hospitality waned, and tensions arose. Disruptions became common, and soon, conflicts erupted. We found ourselves in a battle against our once-friendly neighbors. Sadly, this clash led to the eventual extinction of the hyenas in Raminkura. Reflecting on this piece of history, I'm reminded of the delicate balance between humans and nature. It's a lesson we must heed as we navigate our modern world. Let's cherish the stories of our past and strive to coexist harmoniously with all beings, big and small. Who knows what lessons we can learn from our ancestors' experiences? #Raminkura #WildlifeHistory #Coexistence #NatureLore 🌿🐾
