DYWIDAG participated at last week's 12th International Cable Supported Bridge Operators Conference in New York, USA. The presentation was prepared by our head of R&D, Jakob Laukner, and delivered by Roger Frenn, was titled “Sustainable integration of SHMS into existing and new bridge structures”. Exciting news from Malaysia where our TCP Jumper technology has been successfully fitted at the Deepwater Sabah project. Installed by McDermott International, Ltd on behalf of an international operator, it is the second time our TCP product has been deployed in the region. Fabienne Ellington, Strohm’s Vice President for Africa, Middle East & Asia-Pacific, said: “It is brilliant that we have been able to complete the installation phase of this project for an international operator, a success that reaffirms TCP as the ideal solution for deepwater projects and further strengthens our leading position in the market.” This latest project also underlined the value of Strohm’s Jumper on Demand concept, as the two, 150-meter-long TCP Jumpers were able to be securely stored until required. During the installation they were both spooled onto subsea pallets, where Strohm’s field services team were able to fit the ancillaries. Crucially, there were no residual bends in the pipe, despite it having been kept in storage, as TCP doesn’t have a strong memory effect. How far can you go in a Candela in a day? To another country - and back! Last week, we made the first international journey, between Stockholm and Åland (Finland), in an electric vessel. Key takeaways: 1. It was incredibly easy! 2. The Candela C-8 uses remarkably little energy, especially compared to the chase/photo boat, which required €750 worth of gasoline for the trip, while we only consumed €40 worth of electricity... and the marinas didn’t even bother to charge us! Big thanks to Kempower for supplying a handy Movable charger, which allowed us to easily charge off the harbour's 63A cabinets. 3. With this 95% reduction in energy costs, our P-12 ferry is as cost-efficient as land-based forms of transport. We can’t wait for public transport operations to start in Stockholm this fall!
